I like them both so much, I really can't choose because Hans did The Dark Knight trilogy's music, but Marty obviously did Halo. But Marty holds a special place in my heart. [Edited on 06.23.2012 10:18 PM PDT]
Posted by: Sound Of Trance Are you really trying to compare someone to Marty?
Zimmer is pretty overrated IMO. O'Donnell has nice melodies.
Posted by: Agusta1 Hans Zimmer does a good job for the projects given. Christopher Nolans movies, The Guy Ritche versions of Sherlock Holmes, Simpsons Movie, Modern Warfare series... But the fanboy in me says Marty.
I say Zimmer, only because I know him better, and there's a good chance that at least 1/4 of all good movies belong to him. I don't pay much attention to game soundtracks...

Hans Zimmer.

Otherwise, I don't find the tracks in much else to be very convincing.

I'm gonna be the guy who says, "Why can't we like both?"

Hans Zimmer because: Sherlock Pirates of the Caribbean Assassin's Creed Crysis 2 Inception (My favourite track from the soundtrack) The Pacific Gladiator Power of One The Lion King

Zimmer ain't -blam!-.
-
O'Donnell. I'm not into Zimmer, who makes his music have roughly the same sound in everything. Marty makes his sound all unique for Halo.
-
Koji Kondo.
-
Marty is better at creating a "theme" while zimmer makes epic "oh -blam!-!" moments [Edited on 06.23.2012 9:58 PM PDT]

I like Matry O'Donnell.
Posted by: burritosenior ... Well of course Marty. That's a silly question. At least compare one of his soundtracks to, say, Assassin's Creed or something. A good soudntrack. >.<
I beg to differ. The Modern Warfare 2 Soundtrack is excellent. Hans Zimmer also wrote the music to Inception and Pirates of the Caribbean.
-
Hans Zimmer's better at making more emotionally powerful songs, like "Now We Are Free" from Gladiator, or "Honor" from the Pacific. I prefer him.
-
I liked Zimmer's music the first time I listened to them. I don't anymore. (Pirates are the exception)
