Sheriff's deputies in Texas won't file charges against a father who they say beat an acquaintance to death after allegedly catching him -blam!-ly abusing the man's 4-year-old daughter.
During a social gathering on Saturday, the girl went inside the family's home in Shiner while other members of the family were tending to horses outside, CNN reported.
The father caught a 47-year-old man -- with whom he was casually acquainted -- attempting to molest his daughter, Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon told the Victoria Advocate. The father then allegedly punched the man in the head until he died, Harmon reported.
The sheriff's office will defer to a grand jury to decide whether charges will be brought against the father.
So, should charges be brought against the father? It is clear that he used more force than absolutely necessary here. But, it has been argued in courts before that in certain circumstances, excessive force can be justified.
-
Involuntary manslaughter, if anything.
-
No, he probably wasn't even himself when he saw that too. Dude probably went into rage mode and didn't even fully realize what he had done until it was over. Protecting your daughter from something like that? S'all good man; no charges.
-
Normally I would say excessive force was unnecessary, however, in my opinion, child molesters are the lowest possible human being. After rapists and murderers. In this case, and other cases of this nature, I say that excessive force is justifiable and excusable.
-
I don't think he should be charged.
-
Admittedly, if I was the father I would still be beating him right now. What would possess you to possibly make you want to molest a FOUR YEAR OLD! [Edited on 06.11.2012 8:33 PM PDT]

He shouldn't be charged.

-
No charge, it was his kid, in 'Merica you don't touch kids.
-
Everyone that says yes here doesn't know the defensive urges a father has. Imagine someone -blam!-ly assaulting your daughter. Don't you think you would beat him until he was dead? I would.

Don't charge him.
-
I am glad he did that. People who victimize such young people are ill, and there is no chance of rehabilitation.
-
nope, i would revive him, just to kill him again
-
Thats just wrong. That guy deserved to die.
-
no he should not. its texas so he wont which is good. yorkie [Edited on 06.11.2012 8:29 PM PDT]

No don't charge him. Also when you've raised something for 4 years and the strong relationship you build with that person I'm pretty sure you'll protect them. Your child has a chance of being scared for life you don't want the man still walking around even if he didn't mean to kill him. [Edited on 06.11.2012 8:30 PM PDT]

I can understand the father's rage.
-
Do it again, I wasn't looking.
-
Yes, murder is murder. He should've taken him to court. [Edited on 06.11.2012 8:28 PM PDT]
-
It should be called self defense because he was rescuing a minor. So, no.

-
Yes, excessive force. Killing him was unnecessary.

No, he shouldn't be charged with anything.
