Musical Influences of the Halo Theme

When I first heard the Halo Theme, I found a distinctly African feel, especially the part with the woman singing. Seems interesting, considering that all the time spent on Earth in the series is in Kenya. [Edited on 06.02.2012 6:07 AM PDT]

 • Yes, the African elements are pretty cool, I personally really like them. I mean "Under Cover of Night" - all time favorite and it is very African! And all it's versions: In Amber Clad, Delta Halo Suite, To Kill a Demon, Roll Call, Exodus. I love them all. You could try Septerra Core OST, I think you would feel at home. • Film noir in ODST as well... idk where they pulled the Reach OST though... The african influence is marked, specially in Halo 2 and 3, for obvious reasons. Halo 2 I guess also took inspiration from new age/ambience music. Great stuff, Halo 2 and the ODST soundtracks.

 • I guess it's probably a coincidence, that later Halo games actually take place in Africa.

 •
Posted by: defnop552 It's always sounded like a Gregorian monk chant to me, which is how (I think) Marty described it. Marty was amazing to incorporate this kind of Greek music because it sounds so epic, very Olympus style music. Although I can assimilate it with the Nordic Viking era style too.
