I've never been able to wrap my head around it. If your a dude why not play as a dude. If you play as a girl, what's the point if your not a girl I can't see why you would be one, not saying there's anything wrong with girls I just think it's weird. Thoughts?
Posted by: BC1096 The funniest part of this is people say that they would rather look at a girls ass in an RPG, funny thing is I've played ME 1-3, skyrim and oblivion all as dudes and not once felt inclined to stare at my guys ass while in 3rd person, nor have I ver caught myself doing so
Well I have... Either way, I just find it more interesting to role-play as a character who I have fewer similarities with. It's just more fun to step into the shoes of someone with wildly different social, political, and physical traits than I do. That's also why I rarely play as a human in RPGs.
-
You think that's weird? What about those crazies running around with their heads on fire? Only people who actually have flaming heads should play with Legendary or Eternal armor effects.

I'd rather look at a women's ass. I like to play Skyrim in 3rd person so I'd like to stare at my Kajiit's add while doing so.
Posted by: Queen Chrysalis
Posted by: tntbabin Reason number 1: Most likely because the player likes to watch hot video game girls do stuff in game Reason number 2: Or, more unlikely the player in question secretly wants to be a girl O_o. EDIT: It's also possible that the player simply likes the idea of a female hero for the story of a particular game.
Or reason 3 is that some games like RPGs have different dialog options for both genders and some people like to give those a try.
Lol, good one! But seriously, this. [Edited on 05.08.2012 1:13 PM PDT]

This isnt to judge anyone it was just a question no one I knew could answer
-
Because I can. Mostly I play as a male, but there are times when I play as a female. It is not weird at all. I also like to play as a anthropomorphic lizard person in TES games, but it doesn't mean I want to be one. Ok I lied. It does.

Taking the role of a character. Gender has nothing to do with it, it's part of the fantasy, like the abilities the character may have. I think what it really boils down to is some people aren't comfortable with IMAGINATION.

I asked my best friend why his Spartan is a girl, and why he plays a girl in Gears. This was his response. "I don't know really. I guess it's just nice to see some non manly ass every now and then."

I agree with you man the girl spartan dosnt really look to noticably different and I am a guy and I wont it registered im a guy. And if I want to stare at a girls butt id rather stare at a reall girls butt or at least a computer chick that remotely looks like a chick im not going to get my heat on for a supposidly chick in a dumb metal suit. And you confuse us poor guys like hey its a girl no wait just some weird dude.

Because girls play as guys

There really isn't a definite answer though
-
Right, because the avatar has to be the same gender as the player.
