When I first saw a rage comic on my Facebook wall, I became numb inside.
Posted by: Mikelp_1 99% of rage comics were complete crap to begin with. Most of the time, they never had any joke, they just told a relatable story and implemented these faces everywhere they could; the audience is defined by people clapping like a braindead seal going "HAHAHAHA SO TRUE!" The comics have the same buildup and comedic value as, "whats the deal with airline food?"
Not the very first original style That were mildly funny four panel comics about frustrating situations with ONE reaction face at the end.
Posted by: HD PVR
Posted by: The S bot 9000 Memes first started out in a culture drastically diffrent from where they are found now. Before, only a bunch of computer geeks shunned from avg. Society knew about them. Now it is socially acceptable for some random bimbo from the cheerleading squad to post them on fb. Am I getting my point across? Although my first point was more drastic, it was still true.
I understand what you're saying, but it just seems like you're unnecessarily bitter about something that you don't have control over. And it's not unheard of for memes to spread from culture to culture. I'm just having trouble understanding why you're upset over something that, to me, seems like a non-issue.
Have I not made it clear? Internet is srs bsns

School memes aren't really memes most are pictures with captions. Not real ones. NBA memes is a joke all the memes that aren't just pictures with captions are used incorrectly.
Posted by: CP0 Fraser Dude memes have been -blam!- -blam!- for months now since 9gag became so mainstream. Not being a hipster, they just aren't funny anymore.
I can get some chuckles from time to time on memebase and the affiliated websites, but now it's mostly reposts and unfunny stuff (Dolan comes to mind). 9gag contributed to this and so did most school meme pages. People that post there have no idea of how to use memes or even what they mean. Taken from reddit:
It's the classic life span of a meme. Stage 1: Meme is created, genuinely clever. Stage 2: Meme spreads in the community that spawned it, still clever. Stage 3: Meme spreads to other Internet communities - starting to get played out and tired. Stage 4: Meme spreads to throghout the internet - more specifically becomes the new hotness on facebook. The meme is officially dead. Stage 5: Meme escapes the the confines of the internet used by 'savey' marketing folks to seem hip to the youth crowd. The meme is a dead horse being beaten. We're currently on stage four with rage faces and advice animals. I expect to see Insanity wolf or successful blackguy on a t-shirt by the summer.
[Edited on 04.14.2012 6:20 PM PDT]

on a side note, writing "le" before every sentence is NOT funny This is the first and only acceptable instance of it

I remember when nobody knew what rage comics or memes were. Felt so awesome to be among the only few at my school who knew what they were.
