There was a word document I had which was already in a rar. Stupidly, I didn't extract it first and just left it on there. I opened the file, saved regularly, but because it's in a rar, nothing got saved. I closed the file, then opened it and everything was gone. Is there anywhere where I can find a temporary version and get my work back?
I tried the word recovery thing, and no luck. Will I be able to find it by searching in some temp folders? If so, can you point me in the right direction?
Thank you in advance for any help.
Posted by: elmicker The file was extracted, it was just extracted to a temporary location. If you're on Vista or 7, that temporary folder will be something along the lines of "C:\Users\
\AppData\Local\Temp", however be warned that winrar has a tendency to clear this folder every time it is opened or closed. If you've not yet closed winrar the file should be in that ..\Temp folder in some directory that begins with "$RAR...". You might have to view hidden folders to see it. If you're on XP that $RAR folder will be in your system temporary files, just type TEMP into a run box to get to it. ed: beaten and i even forgot the shortcut to your user temp files herp
Thanks for the help anyway. I appreciate it. I'm going to back this doc up just incase anything happens to it now :/ -
