I'm getting fairly good at Halo Wars, but I can never seem to beat a Banshee Rush. I do see it that often, but when I do, I don't know what to counter it with.
I play was covenant 99% of the time. By the time I realize they have are going to banshee rush, I usually have an infantry bay. Grunts are incredibly -blam!- units, but according to the rock paper scissors gameplay, they should be able to beat Banshees.
Is it worth it to mass produce grunts to try and counter the rush, or is there some other viable option? I imagine as Brute Chieftain brutes would be useful, but I play as Prophet.

I forgot all my counters. Hogs I think fair well against them. If Covie just use the leader.
Posted by: Shunfglol2 play arbiter, the arbiter stops any kind of rush (hog, banshee and brute squad)
Nah tanks will kill his ass. Though pretty much everything else he owns.
Posted by: Loktar OGar
Posted by: killingfrenzy11 Vampires + Stasis = Dead Banshee's.
Well obviously, but there is no way I have time to not only build a Summit, but also upgrade my technology one level, and then start making vampires. By that time, any decent rusher would have either attacked me or have a massive fleet of them.
It's the only way I have ever effectivly stopped a Banshee rush. You'll have to switch up your game style a bit. Try and get a second base really quickly. Thats what scouts are for anyway, to see what there building. You see a Banshee's, build Vampires ASAP.

I think it'll seriously work.
Posted by: Darcsyde Play a real RTS. Halo Wars was balanced pretty badly IMO.
It's actually not that bad. The only problem I have is that whenever I play on a team, I ALWAYS have at least one dude quite right away.

People still play that game?

turrets+ prophet fuel rod upgrade= dead banshees and you are way ahead in terms of economy. [Edited on 04.11.2012 2:49 PM PDT]

The Arbiter destroys banshees, just activate his rage mode and start moving your joystick in a circle.
-
Hmm. Perhaps they're countered with an equal amount of Banshees. This way it can't get any worse. The covenant lacks AA-hardware. EDIT: Vampires are hard to build in low time. They're powerful, but not versus tens of Banshees. [Edited on 04.11.2012 2:50 PM PDT]

Just get some quick anti-air. It's not very hard.
-
Play as humans and get wolverines.

Vampires + Stasis = Dead Banshee's.

Wow someone other than myself actually cares for the game still...
-
hog rush

Build vampires or needler turrets
