I seriously believe the enemy is mainly going to be ONI aka Office on Naval Intelligence.Because they are known to set up at installations like these and known to sacrifice UNSC personnel.Think about it.It definitely shows in the books, games, and minifilms from waypoint.

Check the Halo Wikia and see fer yerselv.
Posted by: ROBERTO jh I think ONI will be an antagonist, but not the main villain. BS Angel's newest update said she killed an enemy and picked up it's Battle Rifle in H4, implying human enemies.
Have you ever thought about MULTIPLAYER? You fight HUMANS/CYBORGS. Them being SPARTANS. Jeez.
-
looks like the didact is back and he will probably be important to the story although I am personally skeptical as to whether or not he is an enemy, at least throughout the entire game.
Posted by: MWLB4244 From what I have seen this new enemy looks incredible. I cannot wait to beat the hell out of them. On a side note the new UNSC forces look like they are going to be incredibly awesome.
I know right? Teleportation!

I've screwed with AI in every Halo game. If it is all but impossible to do that in H4, then I concede defeat and retire from my work, as Halo has truly received the perfect enemy AI. But if it is possible, oh boy, it'll be really fun. >:) This is fun. [Edited on 06.04.2012 2:00 PM PDT]

Turns out its a bunch of forerunner ai gone rampant and that the enemy is an AI and the covenant are mercs and the voice from truth and reconciliation terminal is in this game. I told you all. I told you.
-
Whatever it is, I hope they make lots of new weapons for it. I always liked how the number of human and Covie weapons were about the same, and I hope this trend continues with the new enemies.
-
Anything BUT more Covenant. I really was ticked when I saw that we would once again be fighting them, seeing as how this was supposed to be their final appearance as an enemy.
Posted by: BestSpartan117 Oni isn't strong enough to be able to be the big bad of 3 games. They are though but not that tough
I would argue that they have more power than you give them credit for.
-
My vote goes to leftover forerunner technology. Engineers are Forerunner-made, right?

Hold the phone! At the end of Glasslands vol.1 the Onyx SW (Station Trevelyan) was brought into normal space and occupied by humans 3-4 years before H4 starts, so while its unlikely, it is still probable. {I respectfully submit that if this information was already shared, that I did not read it in the thread as I am busy and was just taking a break to do some research)
Posted by: MattTheGreat2117 Bit late for this now. it's been revealed that the enemies will in fact be Covenant. Elite's have broken their truce with the humans and have taken off their sleeves GoW style. In the first mission it's a copy paste of Halo 1's first mission except with and abandoned half a cruiser.
It's been speculated that those were in fact a splinter group or pirates, but likely not the true Covenant. Also it's been confirmed that they are not the primary antagonists. The main enemy is still unknown.

The covenant have already been confirmed. You will not be fighting flood. There is a brand new enemy that doesn't play like any other
Posted by: Elder Bias
Posted by: WhiteKnight137 Well, and no ifence, but if you have played halo you would know who the enemei is......the forruners or the forruner terminals because he is on the foerruner planet he needs to destroy the other rings and he probably gets help from UNSC or former covenant troops but there is a good chance that the brutes take over the covenant and still try to set halo rings
My child, I have been with Halo for ten years. Forerunners cannot be enemy SINCE it was implied that Mendicant Bias sent Master Chief to Forerunners as atonement to Mendicant Bia's sins. Surely you should know about Precursors. They are true enemies after all of this fiasco. They created humanity and Forerunners. And yet, they developed a plan to destory Forerunners but they failed because Forerunners discovered Precursor's true plans for galaxy. So, Forerunners purged Precursors of the galaxy. However, Precursors has released a terrifying weapon that it would redeem Forerunner's doom at 100,000 BC.
This
Posted by: tpatrickcj4a ok forerunners are dead. been established already. covenant are a remote possibility. precursors are only viable option at this point.
"It is... demonstrably untrue!" by Chakas (monitor). Forerunners are not extinct at all. There is overwhelming evidence that Forerunners still lives on. Covenant (smuggler or pirates) is included in Halo 4, go read Gameinformer magazine. Precursors are implied to be Ancient Enemy for Halo 4. Or Flood. And oh yes, whoever uses Caveat will have to watch this video.
Posted by: El CACAMAN247 The elites
The Elites might be in a state of full civil war for all we know, it could be an explanation to why some of them are going after Forerunner artifacts still (why else would they show up at this Forerunner place?). So you may have Zealots still fighting, and didn't Frankie say there would be no Purple?

They didn't go extinct, they left and in this article its hinting that the players might see some forerunners (Also some new gameinformer pictures) http://gamerant.com/halo-4-screenshots-details-game-informer-riley-142979/ [Edited on 04.12.2012 12:51 PM PDT]
