They are already there early in the series, character building already happened, readers already make some sort of connections with them, etc etc Fans would rage if one of the girls didn't get picked, and hooo boy, fanboy/girls [i]could[/i] ruin some -blam!-. Look at Bleach. I forgot which movie was that, but since the fangirls demanded more screen time for Hitsu-blam!-a, that guy just -blam!- all over that movie. Sure, they gain (more) profit... [i]but at what cost?[/i] (Exaggerated, but yeah you get my point)

Agreed. Very -blam!-ized, but it does work well within the series, and it's awesome because of the zombie action. There is a manga for it, but I'm not into them too much.
