I have a question on the movie WALL-E. The robot known is known as EVE, the Captain calls her this. Yet when she meets Wall-E here she tells him to say it like EVA. The only time I notice her say her name to him properly is at the very end. Even MO calls her EVA, why?
Posted by: mamamia The robots just can't pronounce it right.
Pretty much. Wall-E can only pronounce his name Wo-all-E. It's just that neither of them were built for speech like the Autopilot. They have to try and talk with only the various sound effects they were programmed with. Also, Wall-E is my favorite movie ever.

She's a spy!

The number one in japanese is 'ichi.' Some people pronounce it 'each.' Some 'eachy.' People in all languages add stuff to make it easier for it to roll off the 'tongue' (robots don't have tongues silly!). So I always assumed that was the case here.

She is over pronouncing the V in her name. Not saying EVA.

She is saying E-V-E, just with an aggressive pronounced ending so it sounds like EVA.
