What happens if you kill Solaire in Dark Souls?

There's a special place in hell for those that kill Solaire the Sun Bro. To everyone talking about Solaire in Izalith, it is possible to prevent what happens to him, and have him help you with the final boss.

"My sun... is setting... it's dark... so dark..." Truly sad. For all of their dialog, I never got invested in any of the characters in Skyrim as I did with some of the characters in Dark Souls. Well, except for Lydia. I suppose it goes to show that actions speak much louder than words in videogames. P.S. You get his armor, sword, and shield. His sword and shield are super boss, not even gonna lie. I killed him after he went insane. It's worth seeing him go crazy at least once, it's really tragic actually.
