More importantly, when someone is set on fire, why doesn't their blood an other bodily fluids put it out?

Someone hasn't played Boderlands, otherwise you would know Red makes things fire resistant. Blood boils.... but it does carry oxygen! lol jk it boils.
Posted by: The muffin eater More importantly, when someone is set on fire, why doesn't their blood an other bodily fluids put it out?
Three things are required for fire: Fuel, Heat and Air. Water puts out a fire because it stops two of the required ingredients. It smothers the fire and stops air from reaching the target and because of it's high boiling point, sucks the heat out of the equation. Your blood on the other hand, doesn't because not only is the internal temperature of the body pretty high, making it easier to boil whatever fluids are in it away, but because it's not preventing the flow of oxygen to the fire. Blood in of itself isn't flammable. If you take a match to a petri dish full of blood, it will not burn. [Edited on 01.04.2012 4:43 PM PST]
Posted by: WinyPit82 The blood evaporates. Skin doesn't burn, my friend. Clothing does.
Just another reason we should all be nudists.

What do you think hot blooded means?
-
Posted by: The muffin eater What I mean is, blood is mostly water, and I would assume that being set on fire would create enough heat to get rid of ALL of it. So why doesn't the fire get put out after the fire starts to burn off the skin?
Water can boil away. Even if the person didn't die of pain or suffication, air bubbles in the blood stream would cause heart failure. And if the fire is big enough to burn through skin, chances are the blood in your body couldn't put it out. Blood and skin burn at the same temperature.
Posted by: WinyPit82 The blood evaporates. Skin doesn't burn, my friend. Clothing does.
Skin burns, but the hair burns much easier.

First law of combustibility: Everything burns. It also is the only Law of Combustibility.

Haha. I'm not trolling. its a legit question. If you want, provide a link explaining it or something and I'll go away.

This is awesome troll logic.

At a high enough temperature, nearly everything is flammable.
