Solipsism is probably the weirdest belief one can have. If you're a Solipsist then you believe you're God. One believes everyone and everything around him/her is a figment of their imaginations.
Reminded me of Vanity in a way, also viewed as the ultimate sin in a religious sense. But I did some research on solipsism and what it takes for a person to believe this.
"Imagine you were the last known human on Earth, you would think there were no other consciousnesses other than your own, you would be a Solipsist."
Social psychology would say this person is a sociopath "lone person". In a modern term you would call this person Forever Alone, because people and their feelings don't exist.
I did some more research because this interested me 'challenge wise' and learned that a-lot of sociologist and psychologist fail with their patients who believe in this. Their justification for this is "Everyone isn't real, so I don't need to take advise from a therapist because a therapist and everyone else is just me arguing with myself".
Challenge for the Flood is to disprove a Solipsist POV by contradictory statements that could be used to change his/her mind. I have some good questions to ask one myself but want to see if anyone else can come up with some.
Posted by: Divide Zero
Posted by: ElementalRunner Am I asking a Solipsist or whatever here? That was the Solipsist response?
no try to prove a Solipsist wrong by questions example: if Solisism is real then what happens when two meet? Sol 1. "Im real" Sol 2. "No im real" example: if Solisism is real then kill yourself? etc..
How are either of those going to make a Solipsist think it's wrong? For the first one, they would just think the one that isn't them is just part of their imagination. The second one just sounds incredibly stupid. If your belief is real you should kill yourself.

Godception.

This makes me more paranoid than the Truman Show did.

Lol I never got why we hold to Occam's Razor... Life is complex, not simple. Just look at the way even a rabbit's brain is wired lol.
Posted by: ElementalRunner I don't think you can prove it wrong since it all exists in a weak/lonely/gullible/lame person's mind.
We don't need to prove it wrong. Ockham's Razor comes in and destroys the idea. Wait a second...is Solipsism the simpler explanation? Oh crap. Hmm, but it's a nice illusion, believing in it has no adverse effects.
