At my school for some reason we label them as nerds.Im not in ROTC but I was wondering is it like that at other schools as well.
And about 60% of them are overweight.
Posted by: Thel Vaddam Damn. THis is demoralizing. I was thinking about going into the JROTC so I could come out at a higher rank, don't wanna be a military grunt....but this...changes everything.....
Keep in mind that if you only take JROTC and don't get a college degree, you'd still be an enlisted man. You need a college degree and (most likely) 4 years of ROTC to get a commission. EDIT: Not all JROTC and ROTC programs are like that either. Some of them are actually good. I've just yet to see one locally. [Edited on 12.14.2011 6:55 PM PST]
Posted by: Siffera13
Posted by: Recovery_8 High School has JROTC, J being junior. But it's really military oriented. More like a lot of leadership skills and SAT prep stuff also.
The kids at my school believe that they deserve authority and respect when they're in that program. All they do is show off their suits and strut across the hall.
Not like that at my school, and I'm in it. The occasional overly authoritive -blam!- is quickly kicked out of the program. Even after being in it for 3 years.

We got a decent amount of popular kids in ROTC over here. :/ Hell, a few from the football team as well.

No; at my school they use guns.
Posted by: Zigmond So its a pussified version of the army?
Not even that really. Just a bunch of idiots (not all of them) that think they're in the Army.
Posted by: Zigmond So its a pussified version of the army?
Nope.
Posted by: Mr Mxyzptlk What the hell is ROTC?
As I said before, Reserve Officer Training Corps. It's basically to prepare you for a military career. However, the people that take JROTC in high school are usually those airsoft douches that do it because it makes them think they're Green Berets or something. The ones in college ROTC generally just act like they're the boss of everyone, some more than others. They aren't all like that, but a great deal of them are.

I only ever see nerds in JROTC. I'm guessing it's because Call of Duty inspired them or something. [Edited on 12.14.2011 6:45 PM PST]

Yes it is.

CAP > JROTC.
Posted by: Mister Cheeef117 What's ROTC again?
Reserve Officer Training Corps. It's basically to "prepare" you for a military career and can get you a commission, which means your starting rank is a 2nd Lieutenant (if you took ROTC all through college). Most of the people that I know of that took ROTC or JROTC, are those annoying airsoft kids and just think it makes them tough. That's one of the reasons why I don't want to take it even though I plan on pursuing a career in the military. Some of the people are alright, but (most) of the people think they're these SUP3R 1337 501d13r5 already.
-
Not really no. I mean, there is kind of a variety of people in JROTC at my school.
