Just wanted to post an update. I had called MS and sent in my Xbox. I had to wait for a shipping label to come in the mail (~5 days), send the Xbox to Texas via UPS Ground (~8 days), wait for MS to receive the XBox (~ 2 days), and ship me a different refurb console from TN (~8 days). I was happy with the replacement unit because it was quieter than my old console. I don't know when it was manufactured because it the SN has a "repair date" of March 2009. While I'm really glad MS decided to address this issue I want everyone to know that the new console HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. So to everyone out there playing MW2, L4D2, etc. and not testing the "repaired" console, it might be worth trying to boot up the first campaign to ensure it was really fixed.
