So I've been reading up on this thread since it was like on page 4, holding my tongue and patiently waiting for an update that would magically fix my disc read error. I've had Halo 3: ODST since it was released on the 22nd of September, and started receiving the disc-read error on every start up about a week after its release. This error also applies to the Halo 3: ODST multiplayer disc, as well as the original Halo 3 disc--but every other game works fine. Anyway, since then I've noticed people are posting that they are getting a free repair/replacement (Jasper console?), so I figured I would try my luck. After about an hour on the phone with a very strange Canadian-esque Tech Support guy, he told me that I have to send in my console for repairs, and that it would cost me $99.99 because my warranty has expired. So here's my question: Are the people who called 1-800-4MY-XBOX and are getting free repairs/replacements due to the disc read error still under warranty, or did the guy I was speaking with try to fast talk me into giving his company $100.00 to repair something I did not break? Thanks for your time!
