So, I'm at the part in the Main Quest where I'm forced to either establish peace between the 2 sides, or fight for one. I'm not sure what to do, because I don't want to skip a questline like this, it looks too interesting, but I'm tempted to just make peace.
So, what side did you take, and why? What are the benefits of each side, and what rewards do you get if you join either side. Which side was more profitable to join? And how fun was it, was one side more fun than the other?
(Also, due to the last update on the 360 version, is it now safe to install Skyrim?)

wait hold on... as stormcloaks, u slaughter Whiterun?!?! do you do the same thing to a stormcloak city as Empire?

Alright, thanks everybody. I'm off.

For the Empire!
Posted by: Fintwon Te Stormcloaks seem like the SS almost, I chose them on my first play through though I never completed it. Imperials are the only thing keeping out the Dominion and I'm now an Imperial so I'm with them.
I haven't sided with either yet, but from the reading and dialog in game the Stormcloaks are terribly facist. Yes, the Imperials rolled over for the Thalmor, but at least their fine with other races living in Skyrim.
Posted by: Big Black Boa
Posted by: challengerX Exactly. And they're completely tearing apart Skyrim. Though I dislike the Altmer, the Nords are just too damn racist.
Shouldn't a country be free if it so chooses, even if that means they choose to be racist? I wish we had a Democracy in Skyrim poll in game so I could see which was more favored by the populace.
The Empire is good for Skyrim, the Thalmor aren't. The Nords aren't much better, though. They treat mostly every other race like crap, and I'm constantly getting "Stay out of trouble, Khajiit." from Nord guards. I think I'm going to join the Empire. Why "liberate" Skyrim if all that does is give the Nords more power to exile other races? Even if my character was a Nord I'd disagree with this. And, yes, that would be cool. It would really help me decide. [Edited on 12.06.2011 11:27 AM PST]
Posted by: SHOTTY SNIP3R The peace treaty was only temperary till the main story finishes.
Then I might just do the Peace treaty so I can continue with the main quest, I'll join the Empire later. Honestly, I'd just straight up join the Empire if it weren't for the Thalmor.

Peace, by far
Posted by: AquaBlader Siding with Imperials benefits everyone but the Khajiit (who get even more crap if the Stormcloaks win). Argonians win. Dark Elves win. Orcs win. Its a good time. The Empire has been unified and is better prepared to handle outside attacks from the high elves. Talos is still universally worshiped in Skyrim. General Tulius hates the High Elves as does everyone in the Empire. When the time comes, the Empire will be just as strong as last time. Only, their hate for the ban of Talos will cause the ex-Stormcloaks to fight for the Empire.
Really? I might join the Empire, then. Although I'm really disliking all the Khajiit hate going on.

Put it this way: 1) Join the fat, smelly, inbred racists. 2) Join the totalitarian/authoritarian corrupt government that more or less serves the Dominion.

Can the Thalmor be defeated through completing the Main Quest? No spoilers, just yes or no. Because then I'll gladly join the Empire.

Peace Treaty. Otherwise you're picking between Racist Elf -blam!-s or Racist Nord -blam!-s.
Posted by: Big Black Boa Gotta side with one to get all the achievements. Only reason why I killed that girl for the Dark Brotherhood. I honestly would not have if not.
Yeah, but I'll just make other characters for the achievements. I don't really like the Stormcloaks, they sort of remind me of the Taliban. And the Empire is just full of arrogant Thalmor. Being a Khajiit shows how racist both sides are, so I almost don't want to join either.
Posted by: challengerX
Posted by: CostlyAxis I'm pretty sure I went with the peace conference during the main quest, and then later (after finishing the main story) chose the Imperials. I still have not touched the civil war questline, and I just started making progress on the main quest yesterday after finishing out all the guilds.
