Why didn't Bungie ever fix Halo 2's glitches?

Not sure if there was some sort of technicality, but there were a lot of game breaking glitches in Halo 2 (BXR, BXB, etc.) How come they never fixed them? I wasn't on bungie.net very often around the Halo 2 era and I'm not sure if this was ever brought to light by Bungie or not.

  • In my opinion the glitches made the game what it is. I always enjoyed trying to bounce in snipes or team slayer just to somehow get an advantage over the other team, or if someone else bounces with a sniper or something it was always fun to try and snipe them down, like on burial mounds or ascension. I remember spending hours when I first heard you could double shot, I couldn't believe it and spent like 5 months just trying to be able to use it in matchmaking / customs, I don't know if many of you attempt the double / quad shot but I try for it every time and I'd rather get it or die trying lol which is usually what I would do, which has costed me a lot of games and deaths. It was just so rewarding to finally learn a super bounce and use it in matchmaking to your advantage or to plant a 1-2 double or a quad on somebody haha in my opinion it made a statement and was just so rewarding to finally get one in game, since it was something no other game had, something extremely difficult to do that you actually had to practice. Still to this day I cant do the relic triple bounce though, I've spent days trying to do it and could never get the right height on the 3rd bounce =/.

  • SuperBounces were fixed in H2V due to a updated Havok, and the button glitches could not have been fixed with a simple TU, which is why they checked H3 for glitches.....even though there are a few in that.

For instance, [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsSeXxySj2s]this[/url] classic trick doesn't work at all in CEA; the bumping simply doesn't happen, and the same is true in areas like the elevator control panels on AotCR. I'm not sure how extensive the differences are, but I've been investigating them a little as part of a review.   • They were animation subsystem problems, which was beyond the scope of the patch size limits and I think it would have also broken LAN inter-operation to even fix them at that point. It would have more than likely required re-shipping all the maps in any case. It didn't get fixed for Vista becaue Hired Gun was created to port the game and be dissolved. Something involved like digging into the animation system and fixing it was beyond their job title, and superbouncing was fixed (as mentioned earlier in the threaD) simply by upgrading to the latest Havok.

Talk about what you [i]did[/i] love about glitching. Where your favorite maps was to. Talk about exactly how it added another element. Isn't that a bit silly?[/quote]Well, it's an old game, it's not on Live and one of the ways to get it back is to keep up the chatter about it, so you're right, most is old news but there's still a certain joy in discussions about it. Heh, if we said only new things we would not exist at this point. I came for the Halo 2 and stayed because of the people here.
