My store used to do that too, but we stopped because it was dumb. It's not about screwing over the customers or anything. At Gamestop alot of things are factored around reservations. Biggest thing that stands is hours. More reservations a store gets, the more hours it is allocated for workers to work. My store doesnt do it anymore cause we said screw it, we get more than enough copies to sell through. Even on midnight releases, we just sell through our extras. Who gives a damn. They just want the game. My question was: What if I came in with an extra $50 ($110 total) to purchase the game now. What would be my chances that some lucky employee would let me have it today? Get my meaning - jeez- I'm trying to be discreet.
*shakes magic 8 ball* Chances are good.
I've never seen a GS employee break street date to sell to a regular ole customer. Ever. Thats all logged and they will get fired, no questions asked. What some have done is just take the game home early and ring up on the day of its release. But never sold to a regular Joe. Especially if they dont know you.
