Does it actually go in the skull, or only the helmet?
I remember it being in the head, like Captain Keyes. However, when you hear MC take out the chip it seems pretty easy and sounds like it was only in the helmet.
Posted by: Lord Snakie It goes at the base of the neck in the novels (or at least I remember it as such), but in the game it appears that it just goes in a slot right at the base of the helmet, not at the base of the neck. In the novels the AI supposedly was able to connect directly to the "mind" of the human in the MJOLNIR suit through the brain stem of the individual, and I believe Cortana in the games can do the same, but I don't think the connection is actually in the brain stem at that point. Looks more like the cerebellum, and that would hurt. A lot. Well, it might not. I don't think there are many nerves in the brain. But nevertheless, it would wind up being bad. VERY bad.
Well, in the novels, the Chief did say the first time he plugged Cortana in, it was very, very uncomfortable. It was an extreme cold flooding his mind. Now did it actually hurt? I have no clue. Being a Spartan with all of the augmentation enhancements, he might have shrugged it off.
