Posted by: newyankalt It should be Halo 2 odst since odst takes place during halo 2.
Read all the replies in this very short thread before you post.

because this game was made to be a DLC for Halo 3 but Microsoft turned it into a full game

From what I understand, Halo 3: ODST used the same game engine as Halo 3 did, as well as the storyline of took place inbetween the events of Halo 2 and Halo 3.
-
Posted by: redm0nkey Because its done on the exact same engine as Halo 3 and re-uses many Halo 3 assets. I do see what you are saying though, calling it just Halo: ODST would have been better.
It started off as an expansion before it became its own game.
Posted by: LongMasterWolf
Posted by: ajw34307 Er... I suggest you replay the game. This is more relevant to the story of Halo 3 than Halo 2 was, ODST tells the story of the portal artefact's discovery on Earth in massive detail in the Audio Logs.
Exactly It may take place prior to H3, but it centers on the events in H3.
Sums it up.

It seems Microsoft wanted it to be a full game so they slapped a $60.00 price tag on it against Bungie's will, making it seem like a full retail game despite Bungie's wishes for it to be an expansion of H3.
The only thing is the story isn't even too relevant to Halo 3 camapaign story, it takes place before it
Er...
