Not the first time this has happened, but in previous cases, it was a woman teacher who was fired. In this case it is a male teacher and the school district's reason is very similar.
"Because the teacher's past activities can easily be found on the Internet, it would be too disruptive to a learning environment to have them attempt to be in the classroom."
I can see both sides of this. The teacher wasn't doing anything illegal or wrong in their past career, but at the same time, it would be impossible to prevent class disruptions once his former career is seen by parents and students.
So, how much can a person expect to be disconnected and distanced from their past activities? Should anyone expect to have a "clean slate" when it comes to their personal history?

His history has nothing to do with teaching. If he was a good teacher then he shouldn't have been fired. But now he has been fired, and the fact that he was a pr0n star is now open to the world, he may never become a teacher, something he may have wanted to be. The school may have ruined his future. That's worse than being annoyed at a few kids.
-
That's disgusting, considering he works in a school. They need to be more careful when employing people. [Edited on 09.06.2011 8:01 AM PDT]
-
He is just getting all the attention because he is a -blam!-. If that was a straight person than this would have gone unnoticed. So I'm glad this -blam!- isn't teaching anyone's kids, he doesn't need to be any where near a class room.
-
Similar things have happened in the past, a teacher couple did a half naked photoshoot a while ago and lost their jobs over it.
-
I suppose they could have had him keep working until it actually became a problem. It may even help out. I had a teacher back in high school threaten the class with Brokeback Mountain; he could do the same with his videos. I didn't click the link, but I'm assuming he's much older now.
Posted by: DaCanadianNinja It would be awesome to have a pronz star teacher. Edit: Wait wut? Its a dude?
So if it was a female you would expect to get something? No its school. Anyway he probably wanted to leave the past behind. [Edited on 09.06.2011 7:17 AM PDT]
No, it would not be impossible (well, maybe in America). This is only a big deal because people are making it a big deal. So this guy had intercourse while being filmed, so what? Is sex such a horrendous activity that we must shield every waking thought from it? This isn't the 1950's I would hope that people can be mature enough to handle the fact that sex happens, and some people get paid to have it. America is so prudish and immature that you can't even mention the word "sex" without somebody charging you for some BS crime. How can we be a world leader when we can't even have a mature conversation about sex, assuming of course it is brought up, which that teacher wasn't even planning on doing. In fact, the state is making it a bigger deal because they are the ones bringing up the fact that you can find him on google. It's not like he's going to bring it up in class and show videos of his past. How is this different than being a bartender then becoming a teacher? It isn't, only the previous profession is. If he can effectively teach children, and presents no 'harm' to them, there is no reason he shouldn't be allowed to teach. Get over yourselves.
EXACTLY my thoughts. /thread.
Posted by: A Citizen I think that is stupid that they fired him. Maybe he made a few bad choices in the past for a bit of money? Who the hell cares. That is his own personal life, and that most certainly does not reflect on his current career. I doubt anyone would actually find his videos unless he was a big name actor. "hurr durr think about teh childrenzz!!!"
right what he may or may not do with your children is his own personal business. its not like hes displayed some kind of inherent gap between his personal standards and those of the rest of the society he is tasked with preparing children to enter. its not like hes willing to do questionable things for his own personal gain or anything. jeez you people should stop worrying about the moral ambiguity of future generations and just let people do whatever they want. That is actually a very good point. Ain't violence a bigger deal than lust? On the flip side, the killing was for the defense of the country. Then again I guess it is possible to have... relations for your country too. This topic gets me thinking alot XD
Posted by: lonepaul2441
Posted by: JoiStiq117 They made a choice when they decided to join the industry. If they didn't realize the consequences, that is their problem.
Thats the thing there shouldn't be any. I can understand if the guy had been in jail for something but all he did was go from 1 career to another. Military personnel can be teachers and they used to kill people for a living and tell stories to students about limbs being blown off. Whats a ex p0rn star going to do? He had sex for a living not that compared to killing people.

Posted by: coolmike699 And wether it is OK to be a pronz star is not one of those.
letting a prostitute raise your children 1/3 of the time is. i didnt say it wasnt ok to do pronz - i said that a willingness to have sex for money displays a poor moral fabric and should disqualify you from spending a year as the most significant role model outside of a childs parents. The loss of that teacher's job is unjustifiable. What he does outside of his job teaching is nobody's business but his own.
