Teacher fired for being a former pr0nz star.

Not the first time this has happened, but in previous cases, it was a woman teacher who was fired. In this case it is a male teacher and the school district's reason is very similar. "Because the teacher's past activities can easily be found on the Internet, it would be too disruptive to a learning environment to have them attempt to be in the classroom." I can see both sides of this. The teacher wasn't doing anything illegal or wrong in their past career, but at the same time, it would be impossible to prevent class disruptions once his former career is seen by parents and students. So, how much can a person expect to be disconnected and distanced from their past activities? Should anyone expect to have a "clean slate" when it comes to their personal history?
Posted by: coolmike699
What's more is that Recon believes that addressing hypocrisy when you have to suffer the consequences is "immature". I'm done with them. You WON'T find any of the ravenous offenders in ANY other forum than the flood, with a very few select exceptions. The Mods act like hitting the Lock, or Three Day Ban button is so difficult when we see the 5 billionth "I hate MLP" or "Who's your favorite MLP character" thread. I do not understand what is so hard about "Spirit of the law, not letter of the law." /rant *ban [does not] ensue* [Edited on 09.06.2011 1:07 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Nannerpus If anyone else had posted this Recon, it would have been locked in a second.
I've made a thread about a similar incident a while ago. It wasn't locked, and I wasn't banned. I brought up your same complaint awhile ago. • Agreed. You can't have everything.
Posted by: JoiStiq117 They made a choice when they decided to join the industry. If they didn't realize the consequences, that is their problem.
If anyone else had posted this Recon, it would have been locked in a second. I'm really starting to dislike the active mods around here. With exception of Duardo and a few others, you've all gone crazy with the bans, and not even for the people who deserve it. Now we can get a ban for something as simple as using a word that is not blocked by the filter, but just happens to rub one of the Mods the wrong way. And now this. Bypassing the ban filter yourself to post a story that you find important. [FALSE STATEMENT: REDACTED] /rant OT: What they did was wrong. If they have a problem with the man being a teacher then A) they shoulda' done a background check, and B) so what of the kids ask questions. If the parents have a problem with it, they can pull their kids from those classes, or, the teacher can just refuse to answer the questions. [Edited on 09.06.2011 1:06 PM PDT]

 • *sees title of thread* *thinks ninjas haven't gotten around to locking it yet* *sees a ninja posted it* *my head is full of -blam!-* OT: I agree with the school and others. His past may serve as a distraction to the students, whether he tries to hide it or not.

 •
Posted by: coolmike699
Posted by: Blank_Slate Recon number, I thought it was a bannable offense to bypass the profanity filter?
I don't think that "pr0nz" really counts.
-blam!- is censored. I believe replacing the character of a filtered word so that it still shows counts as bypassing the filter. Foman banned me for doing this several times.

 •
Posted by: nosnhoj420 right what he may or may not do with your children is his own personal business. its not like hes displayed some kind of inherent gap between his personal standards and those of the rest of the society he is tasked with preparing children to enter. its not like hes willing to do questionable things for his own personal gain or anything. jeez you people should stop worrying about the moral ambiguity of future generations and just let people do whatever they want.
Fact is, he hasn't done anything illegal. If he can teach kids, if he's gotten his license, then he should be able to teach.
That isn't enough to bee fired. Like Recon said, one kid can cause a riot, but the Teacher can easily take control. If one kid makes mention of it, instant punishment. It's not hard.
I never said it wasn't, I just mean that when you post things in the internet, other people can see them. And you have to be careful of that.

 •
Posted by: StreetGlower I understand about the class disruptions. One of my teachers last year had a son who was a rapper, and it kept getting brought up in class and the teacher was getting quite annoyed.
The Teacher should have just dished out punishments for annoying him.

 • How is this even legal? He's effectively been fired for, in the past, holding a perfectly legal job that his employer disagreed with. I can't see how anyone can consider this a reasonable action.
