Halo 4 will continue to capture spellbinding grandeur and spirit of exploration fans have come to expect from the series, as seen in this concept image of a starship technology prototype set against the backdrop of a beautiful alien world
MYSTERY
The shattered remains of the forward unto dawn drift towards a mysterious, artificial world, its ominous shape opening up to consume Cortana and Masterchief or reveal long buried secrets - or both

EXPLORATION
The vast alien landscape stretches out before you littered with impossible structures both massive and graceful - but do these giant sentinels serve as irritations or warnings? There's only one way to find out...
Open world gameplay plz?
Posted by: Xd00999 They may be referring to the term Sentinel in a purely situational manner. A statue standing near a pathway could be said to be "Standing sentinel over the pathway".
Perhaps, but they are describing sentinels as "irritations"
Posted by: Pipboy 3050
Posted by: DecepticonCobra I think you're taking the term sentinel out of context here. In Forerunner terms, sentinel can just describe something big, ie those floating buildings.
But why would sentinels serve as irritations?(read OP) I think they are sentinels that are hostile. Almost every forerunner structure has sentinels guarding it.
Forerunners have a habit of calling many things sentinels, like Mt. Kilimanjaro.

That's a UNSC ship.
-
Posted by: superiorarsenal The ship is probably a hybrid of UNSC and Forerunner technology. Using humanity's new found knowledge on them, they could've started to incorporate basic forerunner technology into ships.
Eh, I've never been a fan of the UNSC/ONI already on the planet.

Those flying 'sentinels' remind me of the engineers a little
Posted by: Pipboy 3050
Posted by: hotshot revan II Those aren't Forerunner sentinels, those structures were called sentinels
You sure? look at the picture, you can see sentinels in the background. However, if more people say otherwise I will change the text
I believe the word is referring to the immense size of the structures as if they're on overwatch, guardians of vast secrets. All things considered, not the best choice of wording, but still.

Just my theories on the matter! No need to change anything if you wish not to!
Posted by: King Nis085 They look to organic in the art work for me to consider them actual Sentinels of the Forerunners. Until I can see something up close, it's really undecided. But, seeing as we know the Forerunners, we know how they work to an extent. We can almost certainly expect Sentinels in the game. However, the text underneath that art work is not referring to the Sentinels we are used to seeing. Floating around and shooting lazers at us in game. Those are actual buildings being discussed in that tid-bit.
Thanks for feedback, I will change the OP to something more appropriate
Posted by: hotshot revan II Damn to bad i won't be able to watch the Halo 4 panel
I know! I really want to see what they show.

*from my memories* Those look easily like the Cryptum structures. I bet those are Precursor structures instead of Forerunner, they don't even look like any typical Forerunner architecture. Ship looks like a baby between between a UNSC cruiser and a Forerunner ship. Damn to bad i won't be able to watch the Halo 4 panel
