Many of you may or may not have heard about Reticule Bloom being removed from Halo Reach in the next title update. This is true to some extent. For those of you who are hearing this for the first time I will go ahead and explain:
New video from Halo Anniversary showing of the new map pack has sparked some rumors and facts about the reticule and more possible updates. Link Below.
Halo Reach No Bloom Confirmed
Now this video is 100% legit, captured from the Damnation Gameplay. If you look at the DMR about half way through there is absolutely 0 bloom no matter how fast you shoot. (Although the AR still looks to spread out like normal? idk why)
Other update's included are: Bleedthough, Grenade Bouncing, Bleedthough Beatdowns, and Armor Lock Cancellation.
For a video of the entire game with times to showcase these updates, please click below and read description for times.
Halo Reach/Anniversary Update's
Bleedthrough: When shooting, beating down, or otherwise taking damage; You can receive damage to your health even if you have shields. The damage "Bleeds Through" your shield and lowers your health.
- Bleedthrough Beatdowns confirmed as well, thus 3 shots to the body and a beatdown will actually hurt there health not just deplete shields. I dont know if it's a kill for sure yet.
Grenade bouncing is BACK! Yes the UNSC has finally covered frag grenades in rubber for extra bouncy action!
Last but not least Armor Lock Cancellation: From what it appears to be in the video; Armor Lock can be canceled from a grenade. Although it's not 100% confirmed (more a nice 85%) it appears he is "Kicked out" of AL after a grenade lands near him. Or he just hopped out of it the second after it exploded. That is unclear. Also unclear is if beatdowns, rockets, or other explosions cancel AL. All in due time...
But the MAIN POINT OF THIS THREAD All these updates are confirmed for the *Classic Playlist*. So no you will not have to "Adapt" (sorry for calling out like 100 people screaming like children at the top of there lungs) If you dont wish to. All other playlist Will Remain The Same.
Again: THE UPDATE'S WILL ONLY APPLY TO THE CLASSIC PLAYLIST
That being said, if you like bloom... GOOD FOR YOU!
If you hate bloom... GOOD FOR YOU!
We can all be happy now. I personally love it and like the extra challenge of having to pace our shots and Spammers can only get lucky. I mean our bullets already travel at the speed of light so we dont have to lead our shots; so the Bloom really fits Reach well. <-- but that's just my opinion. I am entitled to it so please no flame wars. Doubt it wont happen but try to keep this thread clean.
Forgot to add: This update will be releasing around the time of Halo Anniversary. Again no release time is confirmed. Ill keep you updated.
-Thanks!

The linked video is actually clipped from 2 different games. Some weapons used in that video thought to still have bloom may have them removed also.
-
*Watching linked gameplay with no bloom* Wow, that already looks infinitely better. Can't wait.

I hope you read this at least once more: xEclipseSniperx you have gained so much respect from me with the manner in which you present your posts. Honestly thank you for such a well mannered and well thought out thread. Props man, props.

Well alright time to let this thread die. Apparently the only way for me to get this a hot topic is to post rants and flame wars. I appreciate all the positive feedback and thank you for all the compliments. - Have a nice day everybody

Gonna bring back some memories.
thanks for a respectable discussion that too few and far between on the internet. And by the way is this halo CEA or a reach update? i have seen Beaver Creak game play with the DMR. the vid said halo CEA however this is looking like reach.
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary IS Halo Reach. It comes with 2 Disks. 1 is Remastered Campaign. The second is a link to Halo Reach's online multiplayer + the New Maps. So what your playing right now is exactly what it will be. Think Halo 3: ODST came with Halo 3's multiplayer + All DLC. Basically same thing. So your Rank, Credits, EVERYTHING will be as is, just new maps ;)
nope,Halo CEA is all on one disk even it's own matchmaking, the games will include a voucher to download the maps for use on halo reach disk.
That's improbable since they don't want the community split over 2 halo games. Anniversary is limited to ONLY the Classic playlist. Otherwise it's Halo Reach with the new maps.

Confirmed by 343, Ign, and G4. Halo Anniversary is just a link to Halo Reach. You will not lose all your Armor or Anything. That's why they said: "Think ODST"
Posted by: xEclipseSniperx
Posted by: Sir_Griff The AR has always had accuracy degeneration. I'm glad halo reach represented that with reticule bloom however i was very displeased they added the same mechanic to almost every other weapon. I hope the NR and perhaps magnum don't have bloom I did not see any of these weapon is use in these vids. My only problem with the human weapons in the halo games is the human race never seemed to have an effective rifle. the MA5 was too ineffective at range. the BR was effective however had the aesthetic of nerf gun and was poorly designed. the DMR carried the aesthetic of the M1 grand however the reticule bloom broke it for competitive play. but now that is fixed and I'm very happy about that.
"fixed" is a suggestive word. I would never say it was broken. When you think about it Bloom represents the actual affects of shooting fast. When firing real firearms you cannot maintain a perfect sight picture and 100% accuracy especially firing fast but if you stop and rest then begin shooting again your first shot in a succession is usually the most accurate. I believe bloom mimics this perfectly. But I'm glad your happy it's back! Enjoy the classic playlist ;)
I disagree it mimicks it perfectly. A better mechanic would have been to actually have the gun i.e. reticule, recoil. The beta had a mix of bloom and actual recoil, and I liked this better. Better still would be just the recoil, and massive amounts of it. That would reward pacers and punish spammers. On the other hand, Bungie knows better than me how to make games, and maybe is was a hit box issue or something. One can still dream, though. Nice thread b the way:)

As much as I hate the bloom feature, I'm worried! There doesnt seem to be a firing cap implemented at all. The guy just taps the trigger as fast as possible, and a dead straight shot leaves the barrel. Aristole said we should always seek the golden middle, and removing bloom, while not implementing a cap seems crazy. Imagine Halo3 without the firing cap on the BR. Am I wrong?

Enjoy the classic playlist ;) well you could maintain about perfect accuracy with an automatic weapon provided you have a bi pod, and really lets think about a Spartan who can punch a tank to death it's safe to assume that a spartan could maintain near perfect accuracy with a semi auto weapon within the draw distance of about 150 meters. Honestly I am not entirely opposed to reticule bloom. In Halo 3 I tried to push the AR to the limit of it's effectiveness because they actually made burst fire accurate. As a result I have killed players all the way out to the draw distance. However it was just 10 time easier and quicker just to use a carbine or BR. The only problem with reticule bloom on the DMR and NR is it's beneficial to fire when you have a 80 to 90 percent chance of hitting. that alone makes use of the gun too luck dependent. but like you said great that there is to game types to benefit us all ;)
Totally valid points.
Posted by: torchthecat7 Basicly the automatic fire weapons (AR, Plasma Repeater, ect.) will still have bloom. Presision weapons (DMR, Magnum, ect.) won't. I love SWAT, but I hate SWAT Magnums because they are very unaccurate. I love how they brought the rapid fire Magnum back, but Bloom ruined it.
I don't really mind bloom for swat because it's almost always one shot kills and the reticule almost always rests before you get the next target in you sights. however the fact that the magnum is as inaccurate as it is with a deflated reticule is outrageous.
