• As linked in Nostrebluc NC's thread, there is an IGN article with nary a detail we didn't already know or was linked in here except for something interesting I noticed, whilst reading it (the article isn't paramount to my point but I supposed I would link it for the helluvit). Bungie now has a 10 year deal with Activision to make this new Universe, Bungie's last project went 10 years (with them). I think that this is a big foreshadowing of a universe close to being as epic and entertaining as the Halo series, if not more epic and entertaining. Also, in another article linked inside that one, Joseph Staten says this:
Said by: Joseph Staten Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you, with lots of stories to tell, like a big, infinite storytelling horizon? Man, that would be great.
I think this, more than anything so far, is alluding to an MMO(FPS). [Edited on 08.05.2011 1:07 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: nleonhardy The symbol at the vidoc looked like a T and an i put into one symbol. I think that this is referencing Tiger, which is something that they also mentioned at the end. It seems like Tiger could either be the name of the next game, or possibly just a code name for it. Or maybe it has nothing to at all to do with the game at all. The steampunk-ish windmills at the end of the Vidoc also seem to be in agreement with the hypothesis that the next game will have a steampunk aspect to it as well.
It used to be codenamed Tiger but there have been posters spotted in the Bungie offices with the word Destiny and the symbol on it. It is believed now the game is called Destiny. Also there is an Easter Egg about it in the ODST campaign and a possible allusion to it at the end of Marathon Infinity, both using the word Destiny. Urk said they aren't making a steampunk game. Also, nobody really knows what the symbol means yet. Just filling you in with stuff from the other 12 pages since I've read them all. :)

(in a sense) Maybe even you can't change it. No abilities or pros (or cons) towards picking one or the other you just pick one on instinct and you go with it. Like picking your starter in Pokemon, only you can't restart with a new game. :) [Edited on 08.05.2011 11:56 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Hayabusawarrior That concept art is old. I saw it back before Reachs release. •
Posted by: teh ajhallmon
Its good to know that we have an even more precise heading on the genre of Destiny. Plus, I think that if this faction thing is true (look for any post with a list including the 3 tally dorito alliance or the bubble bubble coalition in this thread for info on that), then an MMO would have been too monotonous a setting for a faction system like that. It's been way over done. But if it's in an FPS, I could see that. Maybe you pick your faction at the start of the game and its just really hard to change over to one so people aren't constantly changing (all out of ass speculation).

 • I wanted to post this yesterday after viewing the ViDoc but was a lazy bum and didn't, so instead I'm posting it today.

Grognok Is An Editor, Obviously When I first seen the footage of them placing the mountains, I originally thought it was ZBrush because of the similar UI, and didn't take a second glance (a fail on my part). However, after looking through the picture album linked in this thread, this image, from the same footage of them placing the mountains, caught my attention. Based on this image, and the relevant copyright claim, we can rightly assume the obvious here and say that Grognok (who's name in the image was pointed out by Apocalype X) is simply Bungie's proprietary editor for their proprietary engine (similar to how UnrealED is the editor for the Unreal Engine, for those who don't know what I'm talking about). Note: I don't know if we already came to this conclusion, but if so, then sorry. But if not, then happy birthday. Happy Grunt Birthday.

No Randomly Generated Terrain Somewhere in this thread (and I'm too lazy to look it up) someone suggested that the footage showing the placing of the mountains could mean randomly generated terrain. I highly doubt this for a few reasons. 1. This is a terrain editor within a game editor. It's simply to assist the production of making terrain instead of modeling it by hand in Max. 2. The mountains are pre-modeled brushes (or something similar) being placed. Randomly generated means randomly generated.

Already (Somewhat) Confirmed Not An MMO I'm still lazy, so here's a link: http://www.warpzoned.com/?p=3936

 •
Posted by: Big Vokes What's Destiny?
If you honestly don't know its the codename and rumored real name of Bungie's new IP (game) that has been speculated so far to be related in someway to the following "factions": The 3 Tally Dorito Alliance The Moon in Sun in Eyeball Collective The Bubble Bubble Coalition The Fire Water Cactus Alliance Seven Seraph Destiny Trust All of these were seen on Bungie employee's shirts (aside from Destiny Trust but its the logo of the game). Also, we think Bungie is going to be using their new super secret program called.... uh... -blam!- i keep forgetting the name of it but it starts with a G, to make terrain and other elements of the game. Search this thread for more speculation and clues found by the community so far.

 •
Posted by: n00bt4stic And to be honest, the dev tool we see them using to generate terrain seems to hint to me that worlds may be randomly generated. If they wanted something specific out of a landmark, why generate it like that instead of modelling more directly? Why have that technology that can so quickly generate large, high detail terrain with a brush-like feature like that unless you wanted the process to be extremely fast or simple?
I think it actually hints to an MMO. In worlds as big as those in World of Warcraft, Everquest, and the like, you can't go in and craft every mountain perfectly and make sure every pile of rocks is beautifully detailed down to the last pebble. You have to have some areas generated for you or we wouldn't see a game til 2015! This is the case with the ones created in their own classified program that I've spoken a lot about, starts with a G, sounds like Gromdok, but I can't remember the name.

 •
Posted by: firecrakcer does For Audacity For Astra(Per Audacia Ad Astra) mean anything to anybody
Information here (below the press release).
Bungie Aerospace web pages have been tagged with the (presumed) motto: "PER AUDACIA AD ASTRA," which translates from Latin to English as "Boldly to the Stars" (or, more literally, "Through Boldness to the Stars," though this makes little sense). This motto is a play on the famous quote used by Air Forces and space programs around the world, "Per Ardua Ad Astra," which translates from Latin to English as "Through Adversity to the Stars."
