So ya as far as i remember some guys hacked into Halo and started a series from it, Roster Tooth Productions. My question is, does Bungie Own Rooster Tooth? or do they just let the guys keep making the video's? also if that's the case do Bungie get some kind of royalty’s from Roster Tooth? i mean they sell merchandise and DVD of the series and stuff.....

They use mods, but offline mods, at least i think. Would bungie be allowed to give out objects to go against the Xbox Terms of Agreement?
-
If I recall Rooster Teeth products is in an agreement with Bungie to use their intellectual property without any form of royalty as long as Bungie is credited for the game it is made with. Red Vs Blue is shot using the Halo 2 Oddball/PP trick, to remove the gun from the Hud. What remains of the Hud is cropped in post production after the episode has been filmed. Sound is then dubbed over in that stage of production, and the objects, and graphic effects are added in.
-
You can't get rid of the entire HUD, you just lose the reticle..you still have Radar, Health, etc.
-
I'm pretty sure they just used the Oddball/PP glitch to get rid of the HUD. As a matter of fact, I know they did. It says so on Wikipedia.
-
why would it be widescreen like it is then i just use action reply to have no hud and i want a hudless copy give it to me i [Edited on 7/13/2006]
-
Well there are mods to take the HUD away TGP...and when I filmed the "Your Beautiful, Halo Style" music video in my sig with some people, they had those mods...
-
I believe either Bungie gave them a copy of Halo 2 that had no HUD (which I'm not sure really happened) or they did indeed edit the game for their purposes. The Blind skull doesn't work in multiplayer. -TGP-

in the sense of technical legality, no, they do not own rooster teeth. But in the sense that bungie is the ruler of pretty much all, yes, they own all.

They do use layovers in certain graphic programs to get objects that are not in the game to look like they are in the game. Bungie does not own Rooster Teeth Productions, Bungie allows them to use Halo to create episodes and sell Red vs. Blue I.P. (Intellectual Property) without royalty's of any kind. Well, that is to say Microsoft allows them to continue with out "running afoul of copyright issues." [Edited on 7/13/2006]
Posted by: Honorable Sniper No they don't own it RVB just has to give Bungie royaltys and show the public that Bungie made the game they are makeing money from.
As they said in the latest issue of OXM, Halo=$$$ [Edited on 7/13/2006]

They did not hack. They took advantage of a little glitch in the game which made your head move.
-
I doubt they have to pay royalty. I would like to see your proof.
-
It's Rooster Teeth, and no, Bungie has nothing to do with them. Bungie doesn't sell RvB gear, that's a third party thing.
-
they didnt "hack into the game", they dont own rvb or rt
-
No they don't own it RVB just has to give Bungie royaltys and show the public that Bungie made the game they are makeing money from.
