I have played the game before, but its been awhile. I just got out of the vault and need help deciding if I should nuke this sorry town or not.
What are the pros and cons of it? Discuss.
Posted by: cameronxD123 Pro's Absolutly nothing. Con's No wasteland survival guide perk's/achivement No selling scrap medal for 10XP per piece plus caps No home No Nuke ;D
This. The Tenpenny home is useless. Its smaller, less containers, way too far from anything, everyone living there is a douche. Also you need to go through two loading screens to get to it. The Megaton home feels like a home.

There's also MUCH more in Megaton than there is in Tennpenny Tower.

Hmmmm.... I may nuke it solely on the fact that last time I played the game I was good and didn't. I want to be evil!!
-
Pros. You get a cool pent house. You get bad karma(if you're rolling a bad character). Cons. You miss out on a bunch of quest chains. You miss out on an awesome house. You lose Karma (if you're rolling a good character).
Posted by: Clone Outcast
Posted by: MusicMan217 Are their shops and vendors in Tenpenny tower?
A basic one if I remember properly. I don't think it had an elaborate weapons dealer. Plus if you nuke it you lose a nice handful of quests.
You can buy weapons from the security gaurd in the front, clothes from the asian in the back, drinks from the robot in the bar, and misc goods from the boutic le chic
Posted by: Shadow mike75 The quest giver survives and goes underground with all the other ghouls.
Well, she CAN survive. She has a chance of dying on the way.
-
Pros: There aren't any, you get equivalent rewards either way. Cons: You lose access to the Jericho companion and the Strength bobblehead. But you can pick these up before blowing Megaton up. Moria survives and there are vendors in Tenpenny tower. The best vendors are in Rivet City anyway.
Posted by: cameronxD123 Con's No wasteland survival guide perk's/achievement
Actually, you can still do that:P. The quest giver survives and goes underground with all the other ghouls. You can also do the Blood Ties quest as well. You just need to make your way to the area the quest would have sent you on your own, which isn't too hard to do. Just throwing that out there. [Edited on 07.21.2011 10:15 PM PDT]
Posted by: Shiz nit225225 Pros to nukeing Megaton -Tenpenny tower suite -Bad Karma if you want a to be evil -I believe you get a form of payment for completing the quest Cons -you can not revist any of the quests assiosiated with megaton -No DLC quests around the megaton area -No Jericho Companion Edit: I believe The annoying redhead survives that give's you the quests for the wasteland survival guide, I just killer her though for all her -blam!- in her store, made a heft sum of about 3000 bottlecaps by the end of the quest, due to me looting the entire town >:) Edit 2: Sometimes the wasteland survival guide person dies on the way to underworld
if you let the town live, you can actually make more money over time than 3000...

Pros: epic explosion Cons: an entire town wipped off the map no xp for scrap metal missing part of a quest for broken steel arguably better house then with explosion totally worth it to see that explosion though
Posted by: Clone Outcast Pro: The explosion look beautiful. Con: You lose a lot of mission and vender opportunities.
Are their shops and vendors in Tenpenny tower?

Moria Brown dying. Take it as you will.

You do NOT lose the ability to do the wasteland survival quote. It is still possible, the quest giver just turns into a ghouls and moves to the ghoul city in downtown DC
-
Posted by: MusicMan217 I did it once before just to see the place explode, but I saved before I did it and reverted. But I know you get a place to live in Tenpenny tower. I mainly want to know how the event affects side quests and the like. I'm not sure, but I think that wasteland survival guide lady survives either way...
she becomes a ghoul... but you lose the guide.
Posted by: God Of Men Don't. I find the best way to start the game after the vault is: 1. Go talk to some hooker in a house off to the right (forgot both name of house and woman) 2. Persuade her into give you all of her caps (no bad/good karma) 3. Go to Megaton and talk to Simms. Persuade him to give you extra caps for defusing the bomb. 4. Find The guy who wants you to plant the bomb and ask him to give you extra caps as well. 5. Defuse the bomb 6. Collect reward and haul ass to Tenpenny Tower to kill Tenpenny and Burke (if he is there)
I like this, though I missed that hookers house, I'll make sure to go back and get those caps. Though I still may nuke the town and revert just for fun. >:D

Pros: You can kill everyone and take everything inside megaton, which results in tons of cash. Plus, theres a nice explosion. and the snazzy apartment doesn't hurt.
-
cons to nuking megaton outweigh the benefits. benefits are a big evil boost, some minor exp, and cons are you lose out on several quests, items and perks, and an upgradable free house.
-
I always liked the tenpenny tower suite better
