Can Spartans swim in MJOLNIR?

Well, can they? I was thinking it'd be much too heavy, and that there's no buoyancy in the suit.

 • In the games. Spartans are extremely Hydrophobic, and can only swim when dead. [Edited on 07.21.2011 11:39 AM PDT]

 • If he ever has to swim, Master Chief would most certainly skinny dip.

 • Of course there's buoyancy in the suit, it's not just solid metal. In fact, it has variable buoyancy, on account of the fact that it's vacuum-rated, giving it trapped air, and variable internal pressure allowing for, in effect, greater or reduced buoyancy.

 • Yes. Weight is no issue, or else whales would sink like a rock. They just swim like dolphins.

Walk at the bottom? sure, but not swim
Well I read the books too. The Spartans also have super strength and endurance. They could probably swim several times better than an Olympian or Navy SEAL.
Not in the 1,000 pound armor that would pull them down instantly

The suit could have some sort of buoyancy device. That being said, we don't know if Spartans can swim in Mjolnir. Bungie never developed swimming mechanics for any of the Halo games (which the should have because swimming would be a cool game mechanic and change map design).

 • Tom and Lucy jumped into the water and managed to float, then again that wasn't MJOLNIR. I'm not sure about the weight difference.

So no, my guess is you can't swim in them, but you can still move underwater.
This seems pretty accurate. A Spartan is probably too heavy to swim well so they would just walk on the ocean floor. I mean, they can float around in space to why not water? Note: Maybe some spartans could be equipped with gear that turns their suits into miny submarines!

 • I would guess yes because in First Strike Fred tells them to aim for the water if they can't reach the trees. I doubt he would say that if they were gonna sink to the bottom of the ocean. That weight would sink a normal person but a Spartan could probably swim normally and support it. They constantly say that the armor was almost part of them.

 •
Posted by: Kyle Knight Wait, I just thought. Remember Sierra 117 in Halo 3? If you went to some portions of the lake/river, you would fall to your death... ............so I'm stumped a bit.
And in Halo 2 if you jumped out in space you didn't float away into oblivion with no way back to the surface of Cairo Station. Keep in mind how gameplay has restrictions put in place for the sake of gameplay such as putting up barriers to prevent players from going too far off the path.
