Spawn Kill! YAY! Power Weapons! WOO!

Community, take a seat. Help yourself to some coffee on the desk right there. Now, if you see nothing wrong with spawn killing or the use of power weapons, feel free to get up and leave. This meeting is for those who somehow find it "wrong". I have noticed your guys' recent work performance on these here forums. You're getting sloppy. You fail to convince me I am a terrible person for spawn killing and that things need to change. Long story short, if I have dominated you and your team to the point where you are at your base scrambling for safety upon every spawn, are you seriously implying that I am somehow the bad player? What would that make you if you're running and cowering away from any and all fights? Is it poor sportsmanship to slaughter you over and over? Nope. Would it be poor sportsmanship of one NFL team to intercept the ball thus denying the opposing team their chance to score? No. This leads me to believe that any and all who find spawn killing "mean", are simply too sensitive. What do you want my team and I to do? Would you like us to go back to our base, drop the power weapons, exit our vehicles and start over? Don't be stupid. We're not going to do that and if we did you'd call US stupid. Why should we hand you an advantage on a silver platter? You had your chances and failed. In essence, my disgruntled employee, I will not stop pushing to your side of the map and slaughtering you if I am given the chance through your constant failures. You are not dismissed, sit down. We're going to talk about those big guns we call "power weapons". I see some of you posting on these forums calling others "whores" for using a weapon they rightfully earned. As such, cut the crap. I'm not going to put down the rockets, sniper rifle, pro pipe, sword, shotgun, and whatever else there is simply because it hurts your feelers. If by the end of the game I have accumulated 18 kills with the rockets and you feel the need to call me out for it, just think about how stupid that sounds. You're basically telling me to walk over the rockets and leave them there for YOU so YOU can "whore" them. This meeting was brief, but you are dismissed. Get back to work and please, for the love of all that is good and pure in this world, cut the crap. Love, Diaper Spills

 • Power weapons-fine with me. Spawn Killing-mean, but only "bad" in objective gametypes.

So what are you implying they should do when they find randoms? Are you implying they shouldn't search as a team? Why do you say that their "lack of individual skill is obvious"? Where is this shown? Someone is mad. Also, what's up with the alternating caps, lol? [Edited on 07.14.2011 5:58 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Fafamelon Yup, there's no point complaining, if you're getting owned go HLG, and sometimes the enemy team will betray/suicide out of boredom so much you will win.
I typically do that. I've found some really good spots too. Still, seeing al the red X's pop up makes me feel kind of responsible, even though there's really nothing I could do to break the opposing set-up. PS: Forums work again, yay! I've only had one time when I hid and won. Except for my friend and I (I was his guest this game), our entire team quit. So we hid, thinking we'd see how long it took them to find us and then quit when they did. They didn't, and one member of their team annoyed another guy so much he started a betrayal war. The match was theatre gold thanks to all the comedy going on over at the other team. Spawn killing is a fair tactic if it happens. My only problems are with people who make all new accounts to ensure they play players way under themselves, and people who hold the objective to pad their stats. Those are attempts to circumvent the hidden ranking system and flat out ignoring the point of the game-type respectively. [Edited on 07.14.2011 5:46 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Lord Donny
Posted by: Peter15
Posted by: Lord Donny
Posted by: Peter15 The only problem I have with spawn killing is when people prolong the game just to get kills. I think it's fine on slayer gametypes when people are supposed to get kills, although I do feel like Bungie should have made a better spawn system. I have a problem with it when people do it on Assault/CTF gametypes and they don't even try for the objective. I think it's insane that someone here bragged about his +50 k/d match last week and while his entire team probably got +100 k/d in total, they didn't even bother to score the objective, so it ended up a tie game. I feel that it's ok to spawn kill in order to win a game, but when the gametype isn't slayer, the winning team should score the objective.
The thing is you get credits for kills not capping the flag/ ending the game Also its fun to get real high kill streaks etc and go highly positive
I thought the only credits that you'll get from kills are from commendations. I always thought that the amount from those wasn't as big as the game complete, but then again, I don't pay much attention to the cR award screen.. If you wanted to kill people, then why not vote for slayer gametypes?
Yeah but killing people get you commendations you get for credits for killing/ medals on the game performance one (or what ever its called) And you get more kills in objective
The only reason you get more kills in objective is because it doesn't have a kill limit like slayer. If you want the performance bonus on non-slayer gametypes, you actually have to score the objective to come in first place lol. It's fine to kill on non-slayer gametypes, but going for the objective should be primary, while killing is secondary. I always thought that people killed as it was a part of the game or for stat boosting. I have never heard of anyone saying that they kill for the measly commendation credit bonus. I still don't understand why you can't vote for the slayer gametype though. Usually spawn killing is done by full parties. If you're playing with a party, you have half the voting power.

 • I hate it when I'm in Big Team (Which I don't do alot of, anymore) and I'm doing well, but my team are all scrubs and they quit within 2 minutes. That then leaves just me and a couple teammates to get spawnkilled, which is inevitable. Anyway, I won't quit because I'm not an ass, so if I see around half my team quit at any point in the game I will grab my weapon, and sit down in the nearest cave. It disheartens me seeing the red X's appear over and over, but there's nothing I can do. Hey, it keeps my K/D alive, and I suggest others do the same. It's better than quiting. In fact the last game I had of Big Team (My team quit, and the enemy tried spawn-killing me) I still went +14, nice!

 •
Posted by: ParagonRenegade Well, it's certainly not illegitimate, nobody with a brain would say it is, but it jest feels........ wrong. Like that game we played a while back on Paradiso, you were gutting them with the Banshee, while I lasered any that got into vehicles & everyone else DMR'd them out of their base & scored the bomb. It was ridiculous, not fun, and it's just not rewarding. Sure, stonewalling them at their base can be rewarding, but meeting them head-on in an even fight & coming out on top is even moreso; a game where a whole enemy team is being annihilated is no game at all.
I guess to each their own. While some people don't find it fun, others do.

 • Don't be stupid dude you know it's a coward's way out. "Hurry keep killing them before they get a chance to regroup!" Spawn killers are no better then Armor Lockers, and at least Armor Lock has a counter. It's called Sportsmanship kid, spawn killing shows you have none of it. All it does it ruin the game for the other team. You're only "better" because you have more free time hence more practice, that's it. Being good at a video game is NOT something to be proud of, it just shows everyone how much of a no-life you are.

 • It is bad if your doing it in objective and leaving the objective alone. That is poor sportsmanship.

Do the people that are sore from getting spawnkilled really have such an adamant opinion towards this stuff that they find anyone saying that the tactic is okay to be report-worthy?
