Honestly, I believe Bungie got a lot of insipiration from alot of the ideas in ST. For Example...
Main weapon in ST looks similar to a B.R slash Assualt rifle.
Bug Bombs remember the opening scene in Halo C.E.?
Marines
look quite similar
spaceship looks earily like a pelican, except for the color
There are also multiple references in starship troopers to "glassing a planet."
Starship Troopers came out in 1997, Right about the time Halo C.E. was being developed. I'm almost positive they took some inspiration from this film.
Posted by: Tacticalkilljoy Halo draws influence from a plethora or established Sci-Fi universes. Frankly I'm surprised they haven't been sued yet >.>
They based a ton of things from the Alien series. Also, drawing influence=/=stealing plots/characters. If they used characters from other series, then yes, they could be sued. Also, Sgt. Apone from Aliens=Sgt. Johnson Pelicans=the Colonial Marines dropship from Aliens The Flood is loosely based off the Xenomorphs. A lot of Halo quotes are from the Alien series, especially with IWHBYD on. The Halo Marine armor looks a lot like the Colonial Marines armor, especially Halo CE. [Edited on 07.07.2011 8:39 PM PDT]
Posted by: deltahalo UK Starship Troopers is an outstanding piece of film making. Starship Troopers 2 was acceptable, mainly because of the naked scenes. Starship Troopers 3 could be best described as the 'Halo: Reach' of the series, when it all became too clear that everybody ran out of ideas. All in all, Starship Troopers is good.
Yes Starship troopers is very good. I love the films, mainly the first one though. Bungie definetly got some ideas for halo from the movies, the book for ST is really good as well, it focuses on the political situation of Earth a whole lot more then the movie does though.
