Halo Wars 2v2 Strategies And Overall Tips Needed

Anybody happen to know any good 2v2 strategies, and some overall tips at this game? I've got it but whenever I play I just get rushed with my friend, or something ridiculous happens within five minutes of the game starting. I've read most of the other thread so I've got some overall tips, but I didn't notice many 2v2 strategies, any would be appreciated. And to those wondering I considered posting this in the other thread, but it would have seemed like I was kinda taking over, seeing as how it was his thread and all that. Thanks.

 • At the beginning of the match, ALWAYS buy two turrets. Put them at the front of the base, and equip them with either flame mortars or rail gun, depending on what kind of rush you're expecting. Most of the time, this will be enough to end any rush. But if they don't rush you, no biggie. All that means is you have a little extra base defense!

Upgrade them fully and triple prophet beam their bases. I've gotten quite a few death threats from that.
I've got something better. xD 3 Cutters. 12 Mac Blasts. 30 ODST drops plus whatever else you send at them. 11 Macs take out a fully upgraded UNSC base. 12 Takes out a Covenant Base with 2 Shields.
i lulzzz when there are that many prophets and they all come to my base - and then i kill them with a D-bomb & whatever i have on the ground and Shadow Scythe - if you are able to get to ODST and 4 Mac rounds you are playing against n00000bs - trust me, it won't work on anyone who knows how to play the game
But you see, my friends play defensive. We drag the match out just that long, and when we get tired of the struggle, we do that to them. It's not a matter of how quickly we do it. So there is no rush to get it done, and when it happens it's over. Because traditionally, one of our cutters will have hornets, and when they arrive a base dies. And just because we can get that stuff up doesn't mean we are playing n00bs. It just means we have a pretty damn good defense going for us.

 • How to win at Halo Wars online: Play 1v1. For absolutely no reason, the other person will almost ALWAYS quit at around 10-30 seconds into the game. Enough so that if you only played 1v1 online and did nothing every game, your win percentage would be above 85%. For 2v2, be sure that it's deathmatch and play as Cutter. Immediately make a second Warthog, and get two airpads up along with turrets. Make the rest supply pads. Get every single freaking base you can get, and spam the living -blam!- out of Vultures. Once you've accumulated six Vultures, begin a blitzkrieg attack on the enemy. Capture every base you destroy, and use them to make more Vultures. In the event of enemy turrets, focus all Vulture fire on the front ones and mac blast the ones in the back. If you don't have mac blasts at the time, then spam ODSTs. If you lose some of your Vultures, begin spamming ODSTs for support. Continue blitzkrieging until you are victorious. Please note that this tactic will be very slightly ineffective against Anders, but since Vultures rarely get taken down by her cryo bomb it will still be very useful. This is the tactic that I have used to get to 164 automatic difficulty, and I can even turn on some de-buff skulls and still win easily. Be careful about supplies though. You WILL run out and hit a wall if you aren't careful. I just spam requests to my AI allies, but since you're playing with another person you might not be able to do that. The best thing to do would be for your friend to be the designated base defender so the enemy can't blitzkrieg YOU. Since he's in defensive, then he can help you out financially when necessary. If you spam turrets and supply pads at every base you get, you'll run out because they don't build fast enough for the pace you're playing at. If you DON'T spam supply pads and turrets, you won't run out as fast but then the enemy will be able to EASILY retake them, forcing you to stop and go defensive to prevent them from advancing faster than you.

 • So you're getting rushed often? I know how you feel, but my friend and I have been able hold off most rushes for a while now. Generally if you're going to get Warthog rushed, which is easy to tell by: look for 1 reactor, a bunch of supply pads, and More than one warthog. To counter it just make turrets and Marines. Leader rushes can get a bit more complicated, but again if you see it coming, it only takes 2 turrets and some flamethrowers to hold it off. If they are able to kill your scout before you know if they are rushing or not, don't hesitate, build another or get your friend to scout. If you have 1 Covenant and 1 UNSC on your team, send your scout once your first Covenant building is up (Usually my temple, but I never rush). The whole thing is that you have to keep them scouted in the beginning. Prophet is the easiest to counter in my opinion, just because he is inaccurate and as long as you have your units moving, he can't beam the well. When Arbiter rushes don't use warthogs unless you plan on throwing down a disruption because he will rip them to shreds. For him I say just spam Flamethrowers and worry more about him than the suicide grunts. The Chieftan is a bit more difficult. Produce flamethrowers and sick them on the brutes that he will most likely bring in. He can't produce them as fast, and they take more to make per. If he starts to vortex you and you can't drop a disruption bomb just go ahead and try to take the Chieftan out. As long as your friend is providing some kind of assistance you should be fine. But as soon as you get rid of the first rush, (if you do), scout and make sure there aren't any summits up. If so, build turrets, warthogs, marines/grunts. Anything that can hit banshees well really. That is really all that we do when we play the game. xD We keep an eye on them in the beginning. Oh and Labryinth. If you get Sentinel rushed... well... We havem't found something 100% against that. Does that sound helpful at all? Just don't worry about upgrading much or at all if you are about to get rushed. Hell, when I get rushed I don't even put up a reactor, I produce a defense as soon as I can. -Edit- Huh....A bit longer than I thought... [Edited on 07.01.2011 1:08 PM PDT]

 • Never build what your enemy expects. Always be ready to change what you are building on a dime. Defend, then counter. Star up a covenant leader. Always cover your weakness. Those are some of my guidelines. And a 3 Star Chieftan....4 Macs can't kill him. It's...It's beautiful. Are you having more problems in the early game or in the late game?

And we'll try to formulate a strategy when we get matched up in-game, but it never turns out, this being the case I figured I'd ask for overall tips in addition to strategies. • Or, you could take the high road and not make a strategy UNTIL you see who your enemy is. That is the most effective way to make a counter, and you can often tell if you're going to be rushed just by who you are fighting. This is the way that my friend and I go. One of us is Covenant, usually me, and someone UNSC. Then once we know who we're fighting we scout just to be sure and go from there. Very easy, and it makes a lot of sense. -Edit- Oh, and if you get rushed by a Covvie leader, and you are UNSC and you see it coming, build 3 supply pads, 1 or two barracks and spam flamethrowers while your partner spams whatever their main infantry is, marines or grunts. This helps for taking out the inevitable Banshee follow-up. • if you ever gotten rushed with banshees and marines...yeah that was me. But have one person human and one alien and make watever u can first THEN upgrade one go straight for ODSTs while the alien make banshees or banshee/brute mix [Edited on 07.01.2011 12:34 PM PDT]

 • For deathmatch I have a very effective one: Both people be Cutter. 1 person makes grizzlies, the other makes hornets. Both drop in ODST. Regular hmm let me think... One person be Brute, other be Cutter. Whoever is cutter spend all time getting supplies. Brute player gets the chieftain and builds brutes/banshees. Put pressure on the other players and let the cutter player build up.
