What is the CANON explanation to Sgt. Johnson's Survival?
I've always been curious. First Strike mentions his "Boren's Syndrome" saved him from infection, but I heard that the Halo Graphic Novel was monitored by Bungie in it's creation.
So what is it? Did his condition save him? Or did he escape heroicly?

His escape was due to his own skill, but if you remember in H1, Jenkins' helmet-cam showed him being swarmed by Flood. It's likely that his Borens Syndrome made the infection forms incapable of doing any harm to him, possibly even going after the other marines before him (hive mind says "he no tasty"), but then he used his own skill to escape.
