Stumbled across this through a gaming website I reguarly visit,
http://www.missionicefly.com/
I recall them doing a advertising campain on halo 2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh-6owRbFvQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNhurUnOWKQ << original halo 2 ILOVEBEES
these notes read:
We are both creatures of the senses, you and I , we inhabit the same reality, simmering just below the perceivable world.
THE PULSE IS GROWING. CAN YOU FEEL IT?
"A number of flies were also given out to those who wore a special t-shirt with a bee hologram contained on it at Microsoft's E3 press conference this year."
The original story, for a clear picture:
http://www.hookedgamers.com/blogs/chrispriestman/2011/06/27/rumor_mission_icefly_slowly_reveals_halo_4.html
Jesss Kiddin just pointed out:
this ad has something interesting:
Destiny?
notice the bold letters in "Ever tried speed skating on dry ice?" It spells out "Destiny," and we all know that "Destiny" has been trademarked recently by Bungie. The shotcode leads to the http://testsubjectsneeded.com site. And people who registered with that site are now getting e-mails with this a message talking about being a part of a "destiny" and "taking human kind one step closer to an ultimate epiphany."
Maybe it's not for Halo 4 but maybe a hint towards all these recent trademarks made by Bungie? (Hopefully!)
Again from jesss:
people from each city are going to different locations within the cities and retrieving boxes that have a lock on them. The boxes have "HUMAN PRESERVATION PROJECT" printed on them, and in the box is a closed tube thingy with one of the flies that when plugged in, lights up blue/aqua. i'm thinking the next big thing that happens will be when every city is completed.
here's a flickr account with people posting their findings:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/missionicefly
and this ARG is also on twitter (@mission_icefly)
oh, and this site seems to be updating with each completed city and strange, distorted videos are also popping up. anyone who can decipher any of the current video would be awesome!
http://missionicefly.com/rescue/
Edit 1: sorry couldn't get the links to work, kinda new at this.
Edit 2: O ..got the problem there.

Guys, we know about Halo 4, and CEA, and 5, and 6. This isn't a Halo promo, unless they're revealing ANOTHER new Halo, which would be rediculous.
Posted by: Big Sxy3512 Do I think they'll spend a couple million dollars on an ad campaign? Yes. Here's why. TV commercials for 5 gum after production, paying everyone involved, and paying for airtime, cost well over a few million dollars. (2million for 30 seconds of air time during superbowl). to spend a million or two on an internet video and a few print ads, maybe a few hundred on the iceflys, and led are like 10cents each - plus they are only atached to paer. yes, a few million sounds about right, but it's a hell of a lot less compared to what it takes to produce a 30 second commercial and have it run 100 times on 10 TV channels!!!
Problem with that is, although the internet maybe a larger base of people to get their attention, this marketing ploy isn't going to gather that many people. Look at the twitter, its got 960 followers. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt and say its got the attention of 10,000 people. Thats 10,000 people that potentially will buy the new pack of gum when it comes out. A pack of gum is what, $1.50? So 15,000 dollars made. Thats -985,000. Where as millions of people are watching potentially billions of hours of television. Its well worth it to put your money into television than it is a silly little ARG. Now lets factor that into a game. A game is 60 dollars a pop and limited edition 80. So in total going off the previous 10,000. 600,000 to 800,000. Much less deficit than before. It would make MORE sense for it to be a game. Not saying your wrong, no one honestly knows at this point.
Posted by: ODST ShadowLink 5Gum add with Icefly in bottom left /thread
We've known that for at least a couple of days now. It contains a code to redeem on the testsubjectsneeded.com Which is why its most likely they are the major sponsor, if it isn't for gum that is.
Posted by: ODST ShadowLink Then I came back to this forum to see you calling people stupid for believing that Bungie/343i/Halo 4 doesn't have something to do with it. Arrogance yo. Remember this 'cause when you get proven wrong it's gonna be hilarious.
You know the same thing was said about a Halo CE remake. A lot of doubters and disbelievers, then E3 happened. The fact that fliers were handed out at MICROSOFT'S press conference during E3 leads me to a game. It may not be Halo CEA or 4, but it my eyes its definitely a game. New countdown, 10 days away.

And I'm so going to laugh my ass off hard if this is for MI4 or a brand new IP. I bet it is too. I bet it's for either of those two. Probably game related but could be for a movie like MI4. This is no way Halo related at all. I haven't seen any tru proof showing so. Like tru, legit factual in your face proof.
Posted by: ODST ShadowLink
Posted by: xGCx Hierarchs also if you check this out http://survivalcode.com/thegenesis/ it leads to another countdown thats 14 days from now... seriously this -blam!- is not for gum and for everyone who thinks so is -blam!- stupid obviously all this cryptic -blam!- about saving the human race and the fact that it was handed out at microsofts e3 press conference and Comic-con just shows that its about a game, and as for the logo on a five gum pack? just -blam!- advertisement of the viral campaign! and nothing else.
Upon reading the very first post of this tread, I checked into MissonIcefly.com to see what it was about. Upon following the instructions on the site, signing up, and watching all the videos about "saving the human race" and all that I felt like I had a weird feeling or "perception" (according to the videos) about the site and it's contents. The continuous callback to the word "senses" and the insanely insistent ice theme kept bugging me. Then it hit me; the videos seem to have a style I felt familiar with... The 5 gum commericals that play on the television just about every 15 minutes. Upon this small conclusion I googled what other's online thought it was about. Turns out, it seems it's about 5 gum. This site has caused many questions by many people obviously, so it's easy to find resources of information by people a little more qualified than you or I to put these puzzle pieces together. Review, and review, and review, and review again say that ALL leads point to 5 gum. Then I came back to this forum to see you calling people stupid for believing that Bungie doesn't have something to do with it. Arrogance yo. Remember this 'cause when you get proven wrong it's gonna be hilarious. tl;dr~ Real people who are qualified to really speculate what MissionIceFly is say it's 5 gum, not to mention it's painfully obvious with how the site shoves ice and the word "senses" over and over again.
Thank you for at least stating that. BUNGIE HAS NO INVOLVEMENT IF THE ONE MAN IN THE COMPANY (besides Sketch) WHO'S SOLE JOB IS TO INTERACT WITH THE COMMUNITY AND CONFIRM/DENY RUMORS LIKE THIS SAYS SO. Da end. I remember when I was stubborn like this thoug, have to admit. Always thought Bungie would lie for the sake of Microsoft. Now they aren't owned by anyone so they can't be controlled easily. When the community man says it's not gonna happen, IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
Posted by: grey101
Posted by: yumyumyum for anybody saying -blam!- like 'oh this is unrelated, it couldn't be halo 4'. do not forget that back when SOTA first appeared, it INITIALLY didn't have anything linked to halo either..... i say we should all just follow this arg and see where it takes us..
And what was the time correlation between IRIS and halo 3?
I can't tell... Are you -blam!- me? Initially had no connection?! Really? Did you not play IRIS? The rocks ring a bell? The investigation of "Ancient aliens that have been here before us *blah blah blah* made us and stuff."? The pamphlets with AR's symbol AT FRONT AND CENTER? This is ridiculous lol... 12 pages and counting too -.-
Posted by: carpy444 If you had of done it a few weeks ago, they mailed out an LED linked to a scan tag to MissionIcefly.com, plus the words mission icefly. You also got a piece of paper with the sentences on OPs post written on it. Got mine in the mail randomly sealed in a silver-plastic package, even in the UK.
Cool! I just registered; filled in my adress and stuff, but I guess it's to late now, or is it, anyone who knows? EDIT: Too late to get one of those packages, that is.. [Edited on 07.04.2011 5:34 AM PDT]

Saw a 5 Gum commercial, had the hornets in it. Big Sxy3512, you were right, but at the cost of looking like a bigger retard than everyone else.

You really think 5 Gum is going to spend a couple million dollars on an Ad campaign? Its more likely that they are a major sponsor. They dropped load of blue LEDs at bonaroo. They were also handed out at E3 (no way go figure, its probably for a game) They placed boxes in the largest cities in the US. Not to mention everyone that signed up at humanpreservation got sent a package (if you entered the information) These guy seems to think its for a hollywood movie/series. Also catch up to speed on whats going on Summary Of Events

Ok retards.... here's your proof! I can't berlieve yo all went to so much trouble reseaching Bungie patents to find out what Aerospace is but can't put a Little effort into this! 1) If you look on the tags for the iceflies that were mailed out, they are all "copywrite: Wrigley", If you read the ads for the same stuuf in all the DC comics from last week - "copywrite: Wrigley" 2) Decode the all the java from all theree (yes there are three -humanpreservationproject.com, traelekinstitute.com, and survivalcode.com) they all go back to Wrigley 3) Last but not least...If any of you trools actually played the Icefly game and log onto your "test subject profile" page, all the symbols for the "constellation keys" are the exact same sybols on the different packs of 5 gum!!!!! THIS IS A PROMO FOR GUM!!! Just because Halo has used an ARG in the past, DOEST NOT mean every ARG out there is for Halo!!!! IT'S A HUGE @%r^$ING GUM AD!!!!
-
what are the test facility keys? anyone have one?
-
does anyone have the -blam!- pictures for this guy? nvm go a few pages earlier and look for the links to series of pictures, then please come back if you still think its about -blam!- 5gum.
but what about how 5 gum's whole ad campaign is "Stimulate Your Senses" and all this stuff talks about is human senses. and as for why it was handed out at e3, i ask why was it handed out at bonaroo? if 5 gum is doing an ARG for its new gum wouldn't you want to get gamers involved, cuz it's an ALTERNATE REALITY GAME,...GAME=gamers [Edited on 07.02.2011 1:04 PM PDT]

so i just now went the survivalcode website and "the code Activation" part is now open for those who have codes, but where do i get a code from? there is a code on my profile and whenever i put it in, it says that the system does not recognize it, so where are these -blam!- codes?
-
It would make sense if it was a game, considering it was promoted at E3
-
the ARG could lead to an official trailer. that'd be cool. idk when 'official trailers' usually come out (what would the e3 footage of halo 4 be called?), but i just think it'd be awesome if the ARG ended up linking to a page that showed us an official trailer. will that happen that way? probably not. i'm not a marketing major (speech pathology), but i'm just trying to bulls#it around some ideas.
-
I signed up to see what it was, and it is most likely a game ad. It mentions sending you in game messages, and the home page has a game code activation system.

We know nothing about halo 4 and have not got even a official trailer of it not to mention it comes out in over a year. the money it would cost to keep this running that long would not be worth it. All the ARGs for the past halo games (yes halo CE had an ARG) start about 5-6 months before the games came out in order to maximize hype. starting a year and a half early is extreme.
