Did Bungie get inspiration for Halo from the movie Aliens?
I just watched this movie and a lot of things reminded me of Halo, specifically Halo CE. The marine outfits in CE looked just like the gear in the movie, especially the helmet and their personalities were even similar. The Pelican in Halo looks awfully similar to the [url=http://www.screamingmonkeys.com/Aliens/drop-ship.jpg]drop ship[/url] in Aliens. Other small similarities include the motion sensor device and the digital bullet counter on the weapons.
The Alien nests also looks very similar to the Flood infestations in Halo along with the little headcrabs (half-life 2?) that look like little floodlings. I'm pretty sure that they got the inspiration for the introduction of the Flood in Halo CE from Aliens with the POV camera view. The girl marine, Vazquez, also reminded me of Kat.
What do you guys think?

Also, CoD4 and MW2 took a ton of quotes from this movie and did you guys get the whole "nuke it from orbit" from this too?

At least now I know why the other entries seemed so different from the first one now.

They got most of their inspiration from the book "Ring world"

Absolutely. They drew so much from it that they were bordering on copyright infringement. Luckily, they went with their own direction with the overall storyline and came up with a lot of their own stuff for Halo 2 - Reach.
