In Halo 2 and Halo 3, Brutes never had energy shields.
However, in Halo 3, the did have power armor, but it never sparked when they were shot. So why do they appear to have them now?
My thoughts? Honestly, I think the VISR detects the power armor's energy, so it shows as energy shields. What are your thoughts though?

In Halo 3, they have shields on their armor. If you shoot them enough so that their shields are gone, their armor will come off shortly after. If you shoot a Brute once, then back away, his shields recharge in Halo 3. In ODST, they just show it like they did in previous games.
