In Halo 2 and Halo 3, Brutes never had energy shields.
However, in Halo 3, the did have power armor, but it never sparked when they were shot. So why do they appear to have them now?
My thoughts? Honestly, I think the VISR detects the power armor's energy, so it shows as energy shields. What are your thoughts though?
Posted by: Halo 2 Rookie I didn't even realize that. I don't have a story reason for you. I can hypothesize a game-mechanics reason. They wanted a means by which you could tell you were doing damage to the Brutes, since you really need some morale when playing as a little ODST in this game. So his shields flare when you hurt him. Just my guess. Also, I just tought of a story theory; these are the first Brutes to be in military stuff. Perhaps the first series of Brute armour was built with energy shields, but mass production had some flaws and they needed to cut corners and create Power Armour after a certain point. Not a good explanation, but as good as I can think.
True, but during these times, Brutes never wore much armor to begin with, hehe.
