Seriously how did noble six survive that fall from space. Like i don't get it, first you go though the earths atmosphere which is hot as hell encase some of you don't know that then you smash into the frikken ground from like ten of thousands of feet in the air at a speed of probably 20 miles per hour i mean seriously it is one thing to be a spartan but it is a whole nother thing to be god seriously if noble six could survive that fall and only have a limp afterwards then they should not have lost that fight.
Posted by: Odium44 ...funny though that you never actually see the re-entry pack during the level. supposedly it hooks onto the spartan armor when they board the sabre. jorge unhooks his when he gets out and floats over to the pelican w/ the slip-space bomb.
It was on 6's back the entire time he was on the corvette. I don't know if you can see it while playing but it was on his back during cut scenes. It was also on the ground during the first cut scene in Exodus.

re entry pack
Posted by: SUKMYNADE thousands of feet in the air at a speed of probably 20 miles per hour hhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaa
Rough calculations bring the terminal velocity to about 1800 miles per hour, and thats without the correct density for a Spartan and his armor. thats just a regular human. We can guess from the height of the drop that Noble 6 would have definitely hit terminal velocity if there was no interference.
-
OP, Here's several answers to a "stupid" question that you asked: 1. He had a re-entry pack which it allows Spartan to re-enter the atmosphere. 2. MJOLINR had hydrostatic gel layer that allows Spartan to absorb massive trauma/pressures, he probably overpressure-ed gel layer to absorb extreme damage since he was dropping like over 100 mph in terminal velocity. 3. He had energy shielding, protects him from burning heat from re-entering the atmosphere. 4. He is Spartan, duh! He is genetically augmented to withstand any traumas that none of human can sustain against that kind of force/trauma.
-
He had a re=entry pack. Specificly called the M-Spec Re-Entry Pack. That's what the computer is saying when Jorge is getting out of the Sabre.
-
Re-Entry pack.
-
Who the hell is George? Re-entry pack /thread x5
Posted by: Crapmaster147 Re-entry pack. /thread.
This. How can't you see that giant thing on his back?
-
How exactly does said re-entry pack work? is it like a parachute or jetpack or something?
-
He was wearing a jet pack when Jeorge threw him off so I would geuss thats how.
-
Drop and lock, n00b XD

He did the If They Came To Hear Me Beg achievement.
-
because he is my son
-
Re-Entry pack.. Armor Lock, and he's a friggin' spartan for Pete's sake!
-
pretty sure he locked his armor.
-
You can see the device on his back that says "Re-Entry". It looks a little different than a Jet-Pack. Oh, and ODSTs fall from orbit all the time. It's part of the Halo space feel you know. :)
Posted by: A POTAT0 CH1P ok first of all don't be such a smart ass, you knew what i was getting at about the atmosphere thing and the parachute burn up if he had one and dont try to say it was in his armor cause that -blam!- stupid also when they use a rocket (not a metal box) to get in space or back its not only the metal (which by the way the metal they use isn't ordinary metal they use top quality stuff coated with more of that top quality metal and more -blam!- that i don't want to even get into that keeps the rocket from burning up) but it's also the size of the rocket that helps it from buring up. If one little person did that he would burn up in an instant. Plus i don't care how much technology has risen falling from orbit means death. Ps: i know my units are wrong it's called sarcasm you little -blam!-s who keep saying my units are wrong.
the astronauts that return from the moon didn't return in a rocket, they literaly came back in a tiny box that used to be the -blam!--pit of the rocket, now-a-days they return in the whole spacecraft. and i fail to see how confusing 20feet per second with 20mph is sarcasm
-
He survived the atmosphere because his shielding and he survived the landing because of the re-entry pack.
-
Ever notice that jetpack looking thing on 6's back with "re-entry" printed on it? The saber's AI even chirps at George for taking his off. Think of it as a parachute, but with 2552 technology. Also, 20mph? Lol, that's slower than city speed limits... [Edited on 06.01.2011 2:34 PM PDT]

yea but it wouldn't work that way falling from a chopper is one thing but from a ship in space i don't know that a little out their

Spartan armor is already extremely durable by itself. The energy shields help disperse heat around the wearer, and the gel layer is able to absorbe a ton of pressure. That, coupled with the re-entry pack and the ability to lock the armor down could realisticly (by the Halo Universe's standards) allow Six to survive the fall. And although Reach is very similar to Earth in most planetary aspects, the upper atmosphere could differ greatly which could have helped in Six returning to the planet's surface without much damage.
Posted by: A POTAT0 CH1P Oh dude i had never even heard of a entry pack until now where do you guys learn that stuff.
He's wearing it when George throws him out. He also takes his pistol out of it at the start of the level when he lands.

This proves point two, it is from a Halo graphic novel and yes that is a spartan jumping from orbit possibly in orbit over Reach. It is Spartan-062 testing Master Chief's armor.Look on the back of the same spartan, it is a re-entry pack yet again, way to go genius.
