Seriously, there is no reason, if Miranda Keyes can dual wield a Pistol and a Shotgun, then an ODST, and certainly Master Chief, can as well.

That's probably because you never played Halo 1.
I did play Halo 1, and I never did get a Midranged Plasma Rifle kill because everyone only used the Pistol. Looks like someone didn't play Halo 1 with other people. Yes, I know she didn't actually fire it, but it was an example. She did, however, Dual Wield SMG's in Halo 2, and fired them, against the Arbiter. That needs some explaining, as Miranda doesn't look to strong, and most likely is as strong as 1/8th on an ODST.
If you would have played some fair matches (too bad Halo 1 only had customs and not MM!) you would have been relying on more than just the pistol in order to win. If you could get away with only using the pistol in H1, your opponents aren't at your level. It's an unbalanced match. Gameplay always comes before realism in Halo. The Chief fights with the recoil from an SMG yet he can flip elephant with the flick of the wrist. Gameplay first, realism second. That said, it's more realistic for the ODST not to be able to dual wield, as Miranda's dual SMG experience was extremely unrealistic.
Exactly. If you want realism, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is coming out in the fall if I'm not mistaken.
