I was playing 'The Pillar of Autumn' earlier today and was watching the cutscene depicting Noble 6's death by the hands of the elites. During this video I noticed something a little odd. At the end of the cutscene an Elite foot steps right in front of the camera, and a sword drops down with him. But this sword was wielded in the Elite's left hand.
As far as I knew at the time, the only elite I had ever seen holding an energy sword in it's left hand was The Arbiter. I decided to look up a few pictures on the internet. Sure enough, the Arbiter wields his energy sword in his left hand. Another strange thing I had noticed was that this elite was the only elite in the scene to stand back and watch Noble 6 die, rather than attack him, as if it was in charge.
I then thought this to be a good theory and decided to look this up on youtube, in case anyone before me had noticed it. Indeed, it was posted on youtube. I believe this video is the best one to check out.
Now before you all start posting things like "This video depicts The Arbiter in Halo Wars you idiot!", watch the whole clip. The scene from Halo Wars simply raises your attention about The Arbiter's behavour.
Please post your comments.

haven't you guys realised yet their are multiple arbiters the propets in halo 2 said they all died at some point the lead elite was not called the arbiter and was infact the gold elite in halo 2 and the prophets instated him as the arbiter which is the highest rank even though he bore the mark of herasy and then only then did a arbiter reapear there was none during reach except elite shipmasters etc

Here's the point. Arbiters are the ONLY left handed elites. Since the sword came down on the left side, it makes it an Arbiter, as an average Elite would have been right-handed.
-
This was already found, nice try though. There was more than 1 arbiter. -_-
-
hes not left handed if you watched the whole cut scene you would see arbiter got shot like 3 times on his right wrist and when the arbiter got up the sword happen to be on his left side so it would look dumb if he picked it up with his right plus if you got shot in the wrist im pretty sure you would use that arm either and also did you ever think the elite in reach might have been dual wielding? The Arbiter is not a person, it is more like a ceremonial, religious, and political rank. Therefore, there ARE multiple Arbiters. Now whether ALL of them are left handed is the question. I doubt it though. Unless being left handed is one of the requirements for such a title. On the other hand, it could be one of those little easter egg kind of things that Bungie put into their work.
-
It's terrific to see an argument come out of this thread. Anyway, I do believe a great lot of you didn't watch the video. I'm not saying 'The Arbiter' has always been the single one and only Arbiter. Im sure there have been much more. I'm merely saying that there is a possibility that this is an easter egg Bungie may have thrown into the game.
Posted by: minitimelord360 They aren't the same Arby's. However, it COULD be 'Thel Vadam, the H3 one...
No, it couldn't. Thel was already gone to Halo at the time of Lone Wolf. [Edited on 05.11.2011 9:45 AM PDT]

Like I just posted on the video. It's a Zealot or a Field marshall. The Elite's foot is redish/purple just like the Zealot and Field Marshall's armour. Just because it's a left handed Elite doesn't automatically mean it's an Arbiter. Plues there is no proof that there even was an Arbiter at the Battle of Reach. Halo War's Arbiter was dead for 20 years and Halo 2/3's was a Fleet Master at the time. That Elite is there to basicly show that there are more Elites off screen, and that Noble 6 has no chance of surviving. Edit: Basicly, the only proof that he is an Arbiter is that he's an Elite. There has almost always been an arbiter, ofc if an arbiter is killed, the next arbiter will not be chosen instantly. I do no believ in this stuff, but anyways, it would make sense if the arbiter came to kill six. Arbiters are the assassins of the prophets, so it wouldn't be surprising if they sent an arbiter after six. But the arbiters toe armor doesn't match:)

For anyone stupid, there's more than 2 arbiters.. there's hundred's
Posted by: zeog Wait a minute, on Halopedia it says there WAS a Arbiter on Reach? "Unnamed Arbiter during the Fall of Reach" Right before the Arbiter we all know and love? Maybe that was him and he died after Reach or something.... List of Arbiters From HP This is a list of all known Arbiters in chronological order. Unnamed Arbiter during the Taming of the Lekgolo, tasked with pacifying the Lekgolo resistance. Unnamed Arbiter during the Unggoy Rebellion, tasked with quelling the uprising. Fal 'Chavamee - Arbiter during the period between the discovery of the Unggoy and the contact with humanity.[5] Ripa 'Moramee - The seventeenth Arbiter in the line of Immaculate Succession who led Covenant forces on Harvest, Arcadia, and a Flood-controlled Shield World. Unnamed Arbiter during the Battle of Jericho VII.[6] Unnamed Arbiter during the Fall of Reach.[7] Thel 'Vadam - Arbiter who defeated the heretics led by Sesa 'Refumee, led the Covenant Separatists during the Great Schism, and was John-117's companion during the end of the Human-Covenant War. Halopedia Arbiter
And of course if it's on Halopedia it has to be correct? No. The sources for the two unnamed Arbiters (Jericho and Reach) are from an interactive game, a game that is non-canon by it's very nature. It confirms nothing.
P.S. I heard a rumor that if you FIGHT on Legendary on Lone-Wolf for Half an Hour that a cut-scene will start and a Phantom will come in the middle of the map and a Arbiter will drop out. To which you cannot Assassinate him/Beat him down and his Shields are like trying to beat a Phantom to death. But once you get him to low health it will enter a cut-scene and and he will ram Six in the chest with an Energy sword and knock him on the ground, to which he will turn to walk away limping while doing so, and Six will pull it out get up (While dying of course) and Sprint into his back then fall over, dead. And so they both where killed. Heck just a rumor.
No, that's not a rumour, it's a lie.

WOW, that kindof sent chills over me. Never noticed it, you didn't find it, but thanks for the info.
Posted by: switch 104 sv Secondly, do you really believe that out of an entire species of billions there is only one left handed elite? C'mon now.
This, seriously.
Posted by: D00MSMAN I think its a cool, Possible idea. Maybe an easter egg? We already know theres been ALOT of Arbiters (Dont flame me bro!!) but maybe there WAS an Arbiter there to see the death of N6, because he might've been the original "Demon" at that time.
The original "demon" was Jai from Grey Team who Thel first encountered in 2535 (if I'm not mistaken).
Cool Post Flaming Skullz. :) Never really noticed alot of the facts you posted like how Arby was left handed.
He's right handed in-game. So he must be ambidextrous, as any good swordsman should try to be.
O.O and for everyone else, (even tho anyone can edit wiki's) There was an unknown arby at the fall of reach, But idk if that Elite was in fact an Arby. I'd like to think so, but i dont really think we'll all be able to find out "Officially", considering how Bungie is now off of reach. :/ But still, Great post.
There are no sources to indicate an unknown Arbiter on Reach other than a non-canonical interactive card game.
Posted by: Harley99C are you sure its not one of those daggers(the ones they use for assasinations)because they have one on each hand
Nah, they're too short, swords can reach to the ground which is why you could see it in the cutscene.

are you sure its not one of those daggers(the ones they use for assasinations)because they have one on each hand. edit another thing im sure arbiturs get a special armour to label them as arbiturs. [Edited on 05.11.2011 6:27 AM PDT]
