Is it possible to break bedrock with a pickaxe in Minecraft?

I've heard that it's possible to mine it but it takes like 12 hours to break one piece. Heard this a lot and I'm just wondering, is this true?

  • Pretty sure you can only break it with several thousand blocks of TNT. Look up "even bigger ball o' TNT" on youtube if you want to see some guy blow a hole through the bottom of the map.

  • They say the only way to break it is a mod but the amount of cpu needed would destroy your computer (or something like that)

  • Despite being unable to break bedrock, it is possible to fall into the void without any sort of mods. >_>

  • It is not possible to break bedrock with a pickaxe or any other tools in 12 hours. Bedrock has a hardness (which determines how easy it is to break the block) of -1. A negative hardness causes any damage done to the block by the player to be zero, and thus the accumulated damage will never reach the value required to break the block. Only way you'd ever break it is if you were using a mod.

  • It's a myth. It's the bottom bro. Can't get any deeper than that unless you fall into the void.
