UPDATE: A new Gamespot article is up about Destiny.
Note: For moderately related info on the new IP's plot, check this out.
Today, this: (SORRY. This link will get split when posted, and I can't do anything about it, go through the HBO link) https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/bpdLicenseQuery/lqsLicenseDetail.aspx?RefID=672307 was posted on HBO.
What do you guys think of Aerospace now? It doesn't seem to be a new game, but instead a branch of Bungie or maybe even a platform like Steam community.

This man speaks the truth. Perhaps a separate branch.
Posted by: Luke35120 It's registered to an address in Olympia instead of Bellevue. Interesting...

Posted by: Homefront I mean really...stick to Halo, it's all your good at.
Says oh ye of little faith.
Posted by: Butane123 Hmmm... "namely, game engine software for video game development and operation." Possibly?
Weird when I first heard of it I thought Aerospace was the Halo engine and they were licensing it to MS so 343 could make more Halo games with the same engine. Note I have no idea who actually owns that engine at the moment. Could it be separate from the Halo IP that MS owns? Proof that I thought that (I wrote the post but retired from the site so all posts transferred to Dusty...): Marathon: Grognok powered by the Bungie Aerospace engine? [Edited on 05.08.2011 9:28 PM PDT]

*sadface* Why the -blam!- do you need another corporation, Bungie? I mean really...stick to Halo, it's all your good at.
-
Their new engine? Seems unlikely considering it's down as a 'corporation' at this point, but isn't Havok a corporation too?
-
The Steam-esque idea might be the closest theory I've heard yet. Maybe Bungie will bring in some small-scale developers and get their works in Aerospace as well?
-
That was basically my reaction. I've stood by the idea that Bungie Aerospace isn't a game, for the same reasons you gave. But many people were convinced that it was a game.
Posted by: SkilPhil To be honest I was fairly poker faced when I saw it, I didn't think Aerospace was going to be a game. If it was just a game they probably wouldn't have made a whole new website for it, certainly not so early on anyway. Also the fact they put the word 'Bungie' in front of it, if it was a game they probably would have put 'Bungie's Aerospace', and they don't usually put their name in the title of a game anyway.
-
Interesting. So this isn't their new IP. Methinks it could be another branch of Bungie or something. One of their t-shirts does say "Greetings From Aerospace" on it.

Eh, for the record, I believe Bungie has done corporation stuff before Aerospace (that or I'm going crazy).
Posted by: Achilles1108 There are a few reason why many companies decide to incorporate here. Copy and pasted from another site. Reason #1: It's Cheap The costs to incorporate in Delaware are some of the cheapest in the country. Currently, only eight states have cheaper incorporation fees than Delaware and even that is a rather recent development. In attempts to attract more business filings, many states have made their filing fees more competitive with Delaware. Even still, Delaware remains one of the cheapest states in the country to incorporate a business in. Reason #2: You Don't Need to be a Resident of Delaware When incorporating a business in Delaware, you don't have to worry about any residency requirement, as it's not required for you to be a Delaware resident. This applies to shareholders, officers, and directors. Reason #3: Non-Delaware Businesses don't pay Delaware Corporate Taxes If your business doesn't conduct business in Delaware, you're not obligated to pay Delaware corporate taxes. However, it will be required to pay a franchise tax each year. Reason #4: One Person can Hold all Officer Positions and Serve as Sole Director This is actually a big benefit because many states require that you name separate people as officers and directors. If your business is relatively small and you're the only person who runs it, this is a big advantage. Hopefully, we get some answers soon.
Posted by: spartain ken 15 Maybe it is just liscensing for their new game engine.
I doubt they need to create an entire new corporation just to license a game engine.

This is quite interesting.
