Bungie Aerospace is now a corporation TRADEMARK UPDATE: 5/11 Crimson

Please favorite this thread for updates! UPDATE: A new Gamespot article is up about Destiny. Note: For moderately related info on the new IP's plot, check this out. Today, this: (SORRY. This link will get split when posted, and I can't do anything about it, go through the HBO link) https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/bpdLicenseQuery/lqsLicenseDetail.aspx?RefID=672307 was posted on HBO. What do you guys think of Aerospace now? It doesn't seem to be a new game, but instead a branch of Bungie or maybe even a platform like Steam community. • Any characters (or any aspect of an ARG in general) of an ARG don't claim to be directly from Bungie. So I doubt that Bungie Aerospace is part of an ARG, and I doubt that the company would get an entirely new corporation just for an ARG. Besides, part of the Activision/Bungie partnership specifically allows Bungie to keep the creative rights to whatever they make.
Posted by: homocidalham I can actually think of two possible reasons. First, it could perhaps be the beginnings of the next ARG. I'm going to look through Delaware corporation law to see if anything would potentially serve as an asset. Second, I have an odd feeling of it being, in some way, a sort of legal security to protect their IP from being possessed by Activision. I have no idea how this would work, but I can imagine that they don't want to be deprived of anymore properties after losing Myth, Oni, and Halo. Really, I have nothing to base this on, so discard it.
•
Posted by: Big Black Bear I don't know why anyone ever thought it was a game to begin with.
The wording of the trademark posting led me to lean in that direction:
Computer game software downloadable from a global computer network; Computer game software for personal computers and home video game consoles; Computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones; Computer software, namely, game engine software for video game development and operation; Interactive game software; Video game software
•
Posted by: YahwehFreak4evr This man speaks the truth. Perhaps a separate branch.
Posted by: Luke35120 It's registered to an address in Olympia instead of Bellevue. Interesting...

The address in Olympia belongs to CT Corporations, which is not Bungie. Just someone whose services Bungie is using on the business side of things. • It can't be just an engine, they wouldn't make merchandise for just game tech. This is a definitely interesting. Bungie's expanding with this and Bungie Foundation. Its exciting!

 • Well, speculation. The community didn't fully know what Aerospace was so they just decided it was Bungie's new IP. Can't wait to see what happens with this!
Posted by: Big Black Bear I don't know why anyone ever thought it was a game to begin with.
• Sounds like pretty much what I was expecting. I don't know why anyone ever thought it was a game to begin with.
Posted by: nintenman7 The Steam-esque idea might be the closest theory I've heard yet. Maybe Bungie will bring in some small-scale developers and get their works in Aerospace as well?
I doubt it would work that well on PC, on consoles however it could.

 •
Posted by: cortana 5 That was basically my reaction. I've stood by the idea that Bungie Aerospace isn't a game, for the same reasons you gave. But many people were convinced that it was a game.
Posted by: SkilPhil To be honest I was fairly poker faced when I saw it, I didn't think Aerospace was going to be a game. If it was just a game they probably wouldn't have made a whole new website for it, certainly not so early on anyway. Also the fact they put the word 'Bungie' in front of it, if it was a game they probably would have put 'Bungie's Aerospace', and they don't usually put their name in the title of a game anyway.

I thought there was a possibility that 'Bungie Aerospace' could have been the name of an in-game space program of some sort. Using your own name isn't what most people would do, but it would make it sound more official.

 • Because it's a badass logo.
Posted by: Hylebos
Posted by: cortana 5 Maybe it's just for the sake of separating paperwork.
Then why would they sell T-Shirts about it? >_>
•
Posted by: Cpl Crosseyes So... will the Aerospace engine be the new Unreal engine?
Hopefully Bungie will release an engine to the public next time around. I could see they would want in if you look at the momentum the Unreal engine has picked up in recent years. If they do though, they got some catching up to do with Epics headstart.
