For obvious reasons, I won't be adding Covenant vehicles, but I thought it might be interesting for some to see where the inspiration may have come from.
If this information is something you already knew, I apologize, but this thread is more for the people who may not.
I also want to add that I am not insinuating that Bungie based any of their designs off of any of the listed counterparts. It's just my best guess. Enjoy!

*You might also say that the V-2 Osprey could also be a counterpart to the Pelican (even though they look nothing alike, as they both carry out the same mission: troop transport), as the Osprey will replace the Sea Knight in the near future.

*Currently (and obviously) there are no "starfighter" aircraft in existence (at least any that are declassified), so I picked an aircraft I believe to be aesthetically similar.
Those are the vehicles I have so far. If you would like any added, let me know.

You know that there is a real life worthog built. I mean you can go onto youtube and see a video. I seen a video the an exact replica of one, even the chain-gun in the back. Based on looks I would add it, but the original Warthog was conceptualized in 2001 and hasn't changed much since. Therefore, we'd have to say that possibly Peugeot (released in 2003) was inspired by Halo, and not the other way around. [Edited on 04.29.2011 10:55 AM PDT]
Posted by: UnexpectedBang the warthog is an terrible military vehicle to begin with. Far too lightly armored and open
I have always agreed with that. Why is a military vehicle a convertible? I could see if only Spartans drove it to conserve weight as they're already armored, but Marines use it all the time. I would never get into one in combat.

Yeah, Emothic. It's A Sukhoi. Most definitely Russian. It's experimental and never made it to production, but the prototype does exist and was sucessfully flight tested, so it's fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Well you basically handle them all. Course I'm not surprised at all. All "Human" vehicles on games are always based off of what he have now and given a futuristic look. Update: Is it me or does the SU-47 Berkut have red communist stars on its wings? Given by the name Berkut, it sounds Russian. [Edited on 04.29.2011 9:46 AM PDT]
Posted by: ICanHasRofl The Warthog is nothing like a Humvee. Didn't bother reading after that, was half expecting you to compare a Banshee with a Toyota Camry.
The similarities aren't all just aesthetic. We're talking about combat roles too. I don't know of anything more similar than possibly a technical, but I did say that it was my view, not Bungie's. Still, the similarities of a Humvee and a Warthog are lightyears closer than a Banshee and a Camry... Get real. [Edited on 04.29.2011 9:47 AM PDT]

The polaris MV7 don't stay on its wheels too well after you go for a tumble like the mongoose does.
