First i just want to say, i'm not that savvy about the Spartan III project regarding the rest of noble team, but i do know Jorge is a Spartan II. Thus leaves me asking, if he and the rest of the spartans were rounded up as children, trained in the same environment as each other for years, then how does Jorge have a different accent from the other spartan II's?
Even being born on reach, he was abducted at 6 and placed with the rest of the spartan 2's. the way the brain develops, is that it is most impressionable between the ages of 5-12 years old, meaning this is when most habbits will be formed. this is why learning languages and other things such as piano are important to take on at an early age. so even if jorge had a hungarian accent going into the program, when growing up and working on vocabulary and grammar in school, he wouldve repeated and followed the verbal examples of those teaching it. thus his accent wouldve changed early on, to those he was around. now, my point simply isnt the fact that it is a hungarian accent, or even an accent at all, but it is the fact that jorge should have the SAME dialect or accent as the other Spartan 2's, which he does not. just look at chief.
without the reinforcement of family or friends, jorge should have given up the accent pretty gradually, without even being conscious of it. The children may have all been from different environment with different languages, but again without people there to reinforce all of their unique dialects, they most likey wouldve all adopted a common one. by the AI's or Officers.
Posted by: DiegoM0927 Jorge is from Reach. The first settlers of Reach were Hungarian. Jorge also speaks Hungarian. I guess he's Hungarian. Kat and Jun have non-American accents too. Kat is Israeli and I don't know what Jun is.
The voice actor is isreali, im not so sure kat herself is. The name seems european so I'd assume some form of eastern european origin. Jun...SOUNDS russian...but the asianocity of his name and looks point to some sort of weird russasian hybrid. (Eurasian, if you want, I like mine better though) But, with space travel and what i would assume to be millions of people intermingling, the concept of any ethnic groups, in the way we know them at least, seems trivial. (not sure if related to be honest...)

They were all taken from their families. They all had different things they held on to to keep their past with him. Jorge's was his Accent. Master Chief's was a memory of his mother holding him.

jorge has an english accent, kat has a polish or russian accent.

its coz hes black init

Dude, it's a game, who cares? I'm not saying what you are stating is dumb, you have a point actually. But if you are right or not, what does anybody gain?
-
Well he's a spartan-II, he's not your average child. That being said, its hard to lose what you have.
Posted by: Sub Zer0
Posted by: LordMonkey Jun and Kat have an accent too. Just because someone has an accent doesn't necessarily make someone special or different.
thats not my point, my point is he shouldnt have one, or if he does then so should the rest of the Spartan II's including chief.
Guess I'm not following. Being the UNSC (United Nations), there is more than 1 nation in it. So, it makes sense that there are those of Russian, Asian, American, and Scottish decent. That said, it isn't a stretch to think of having Jorje sound Scottish, or Kat sound Russian (or Eastern Block). Is it? The gathering of kids for the Spartan II programs were not limited to 1 planet, or one nationality. Since we really don't have other Spartan II voices except for MC, we really don't know if the rest have accents... do we? Also, having an accent depends on your point of view. I am from Michigan. To me, folks from Michigan have no accent. As I live in the South, they have accents. Yet, I am told I have an accent from those who live here. Perspective. [Edited on 04.06.2011 2:00 PM PDT]

Dude, I'm 18. And whenever I hear a foreign accent of some kind, I will start to copy it and sometimes won't stop speaking with an accent for days. Some people just never lose accents. Regardless of environment.

-
From what i've understand, playing the various versions of Reach out there, Jorge's accent only exists in English. In the japanese and hispanic versions, Jorge has no accent.
-
you are correct, so if ppl from england all speak alike, (no such thing as a north american accent)
There is no such thing as an English accent either. There is pretty much a different accent for every city in England.
-
He shouldn't have an accent because in the future everyone speaks American! [Edited on 04.06.2011 11:33 AM PDT]

Does it matter what he sounds like. They needed someone to do his voice and chose a cool sounding guy to do it.

It adds character. That's pretty much the only reason.
