The would-be UNSC Marine Lieutenant Parisa was a childhood friend of John's. John once saved her from drowning at Lake Gusev, after which John promised to marry her and keep her safe. A photo of the two was also taken by Parisa's father soon after, and would be kept as a memory by Parisa long after she thought John had passed away.
Wow....
thats Sad I hope she finds out he's alive.
Posted by: Gottalovec4 Love how Chief remembers her name, and saving her from drowning, and taking a picture with her. But can't remember his last name.
Love how the memory is triggered by seeing a picture, and her talking about the picture. Not him remembering off the bat all the details. *Sigh* It's called certain things can trigger a memory.

I really enjoyed that part of Palace Hotel but I didn't like the rest of the story. Mona Lisa I though was pretty good but too long. My favorite was Dirt, I really liked how it ended, it just came full circle.
Posted by: SEAL Sniper 9
Posted by: AgentCOPP1 I love evolutions but there are some stories that is just hard for me to read. For instance, The Mona Lisa is the longest story in that book, but I just can't follow it and have a hard time concentrating with the writing style. I just skipped it and moved on to the next one.
>:O Mona Lisa is the best story in the book, imo. lol. I think you should take the time to read it. It starts off a bit slow, but gets one-hundred times better. You just gotta stick with it. Trust me, it's worth it. I loved that story.
I'll try it... but I doubt I'll like it even after reading. The composure and style just seem too choppy, and the characters can be compared too easily to the marines in the movie Aliens. Really cocky, stuck up (in a way), and talk really heavily with a slang. Which is fine for a movie but doesn't fit in a book for my taste. Your taste is different and that's fine.

At the same time, it has a few humor elements which surprisingly don't detract from the overall feel of it. [Edited on 03.03.2011 4:45 PM PST]

To me, it sounded almost like it was more of the old-city then downtown.
The story clearly takes place during the metropolis level. The toll plaza, the tunnel, the park, the downtown plaza and the path to the quays all appear in both the game and the short in the same order. The place where Parisa was is clearly the same place where you meet Banks in Halo 2.

I liked that part of Palace Hotel alot. It was the best part, no doubt. Hopefully something will happen since the war is over if she's still alive and John ever makes it back to Earth. I would like to see that relationship through.

H4 better invlove this, or I'm suing 343.
Posted by: Apocalypse 1313 Master Cheif is an emotionless, robotic killing machine and this will never make it to a game.
The Master Chief does have emotions he just can't show them cause he would be compromised as a leader and would lose focus ( READ THE FALL OF REACH AND FIRST STRIKE)

Cortana has probably done something to make sure Parisa doesn't know about John being Master Chief.
Posted by: SEAL Sniper 9 I thought that Evolutions story was meh. Then, I read that part towards the end and thought it was one-hundred times better. It's very sad, though.
I was very confused with this story. is it supposed to be a telling of the level Metropolis in Halo 2? it was very different. although I did like the Marine character development.

think that would be too sappy to be in H4
Posted by: Rylite Doubtful this will make it into any game. That being said, I was rather confused when I read this short story. I was under the impression that he had forgotten most of the details of his life prior to the age of six, after he was conscripted. How would he remember something like that? I guess it's somewhat of an impressionable memory though.
Nah, they didn't forget. It was more of the training kept them so busy/focused they didn't bother to look back at their childhood. Chief didn't even do it until he saw the picture and Parisa told him about it.
Posted by: Multijirachi DOubtful, when he met parisa, he probally sucked up her luck and soul, and harnessed it for his own twisted evil ways
Probably this. Like every woman Bond meets dies. If they ever revise the games, it'd be awesome to have references to the books. The players who don't read them wouldn't care too much, and if they did, it'd mean they would read them. And for the players who do read the books, it'd add to the quality and awesomeness of the universe.
