Should Prostitution be legal?
I really don't understand why it is illegal in the first place.
It could be legal in certified brothels, which would have to pay tax.
Street prostitution should remain illegal, however, as it could not be taxed.

it already is. however, that's were i live, in the Netherlands.

It would also be possible to regulate, lowering disease and meaning that brothels become decent places rather than a flat with 12 people all 'hookering' with discarded needles on the floor.

In The Netherlands there is such a thing as certified brothel prostitution. I believe in Rotterdam, in a hood called 'de Wallen'. It's said to work out fine and if there are woman willing to degrade themselves as far as to having their snatch banged by strangers for money... well then what's the problem?

I have a friend who is a pro, she works in a brothel. Believe it or not she actually doesn't mind the job itself. You would have never though it of her, she was so quiet when we were in school, [i]it's always the quiet ones[/i]. Seriously though, people are making this out to be about women forced into it by pimps and being forced into taking drugs, that's the bad side of it, but a perfectly normal good side does exist.

Heck yeah, make it legal...in brothels. I don't want some trashy lady on the sidewalk offering me up. I think by doing this, it would at least diminish the illegal prostitution ring a little.

well governments gotta make strict laws for dumb citizens. I think a better idea would to educate people twice as much. Honestly, it sometimes scares me how stupid people can be sometimes and recently I have made my mind up on this topic a lot more easier after viewing other threads. However I do disagree on your views. I think it should be the way it is in the Brazil, the UK, Canada, and several other places in the world where, as Wikipedia itself says, "prostitution (the exchange of sex for money) is legal, but organized activities such as brothels and pimping are illegal". Oh and it should be regulated. By the way, on the tax thing, taxes don't work like that.
