Is 1.52 a good K/D ratio?
I'm not a statswhore or something like that, just playing normally with no mic and have most kills on the match, i don't care about losing or winning, just having fun. Just wanting to know if its good or bad.

I usually go with a cautious mindset, even back when i played Halo 3. I got another perfection with most of my kills from the "Gator gun" ^^

IMO k/d is not a good indicator of player. Me (for instance) am usually the driver of vehicles in my team ( I play with the same group of friends, makes the game a whole lot more fun) I may not get lots of kills, but I do get lots of driving assists etc.

It all depends how many games you play, as well as what you play. I like to think that if, over a few thousand games, your K/D is above 1.4, you're pretty damn consistent. You go positive more often than negative, which means you most likely win more often than lose. As for what you play, playing a lot of Arena will bring your K/D down. I could have a 3.00+ K/D if I started an account right now and played only BTB or Invasion. As it stands, I play far more Arena than anything else, and as I am in Onyx division, I play a lot of good players. Being able to go +3 at this level is often the difference between victory and defeat. When everyone is a good shot, it mostly comes down to map and weapon control, and these can sometimes be random variables. Over all, playing high-level arena will bring down your K/D quite a bit because of how close many of the games can be.

My ranking system for K/D is that if you are a friendly and good team mate, you are good for my team. K/D represents personal records not team and does not show that they work well as a team.

My serious playlist is Invasion and I'm running currently at a 2.79 k/d and climbing. I find the large amount of comments about those with 2.0 k/d are boosters, ect completely idiotic. I have never boosted or stat whored in Invasion. The entire time I've played, I've only had a full party...twice (maybe). And by full party I mean 6 people, not 12. Though I will admit that trueskill can be a bit funky at times. (Games that I go 40 and 3 or something. lol) Now as for as the question on if a 1.52 k/d is good. Yes, it's a completely respectable k/d, especially if it's a average in competative. Since it adds in a multitude of playlists.

If you were really being matched against people with a comparable skill level your K/D ratio would tend toward 1.0 over time, but the system tends to mix good people with bad people, which is why nearly every Slayer game I play has 1-3 players dominating the game while the rest are just fodder for the good people. So while there may be some truth in what you claim, I seen too many games in which people who are really good are playing with people who really aren't.

My k/d ratio is 2.25 and i try and aviod power weapons i only go for them if i see them. and i rarely go for the sniper even if it's right next to me. The trick is to avoid hotspots and never be in the middle of a fight. Oh and i don't use armour lock. [Edited on 01.10.2011 9:39 AM PST]

Yeah, it's pretty good. It's weired, whenever i'm with my friends, even if they are just watching, my k/d plummets, but by myself, it shoots up.

Me and my friends rarely play invasion, but we did yesterday. On the other team after the game a guy was talking crap because he went 24-6. He kept bragging how good he was, and the only reply we had to him was oh Yeah you guys didn't even unlock the first section and we scored your core. When on these forums and I look at some one's ratio I look at a few things first. 1. Ways they play, if your rocking a 1.5 to 3.0 in BTB using nothing but vehicles then I don't respect it. If you have a 1.5 to 3.0 in Objective but lose every game I don't respect you. I have a 3.54 in BTB and almost never touch a vehicle. 2. If you have ever full party boosted, you could be the best player in the world, but if you have ever boosted then your a joke. 3. I check their arena k/d. A lot of guys will have a 1.5 to 3.0 in competitive, but a below 1.0 in arena. If you can't keep at least a 1.0 in arena then the rest of your stats are garbage. [Edited on 01.10.2011 9:35 AM PST]

I snipe. A lot. And my k/d is 1.6 something, I think. But at least I don't do the whole lone wolf thing. I like to think that my sniping is objectively based and that I rescue teammates often.

Then again, there are different degrees of skill, in a game full of really, really good players, I'm trash. In a game full of players who play the game a lot but have a 0.2 K/D anyway, I'm a god.

I don't know. I've noticed I've been evening out with my team instead of scoring higher by an extreme amount.

You may be a good team player yes, but what if you were that kid who always goes for the objective in say CTF who doesn't always stand back sniping or DMRing. Your K/D does suffer in that sense, because you are potentially going to die more going into enemy territory like that, but your K/D is now a 1.2. Does that mean he's a bad player because he goes for the objective? When was the last time you captured the flag in a CTF game? anything above 1 is considered good. Below that I'd assume are players still trying to get the hang of the game. If trueskill worked as it was supposed to no one would have anything higher than 2. Lets face the facts here and accept the reality that if you were to go up against a team of 4 players as good as you, along with 3 teammates as good as you, no one in that game will end up with a +30 K/D spread I guarantee. :3

Its good. Not great. But good. If you are consistently getting anything above 1.5, then you are a competent, smart player. Anything below 1.0, then you rush far too much and don't think before you act. Anything above 2.0 and you are either always wielding a power weapon, or are just ridiculously talented and should either try playing at a higher, more competitive level, or stop neglecting your family and friends, just relax and take a break for a while...
