Posted by: ajw34307 Jorge is a care-bear, Emile is a wanker. The two don't mix well.
excellent analogy lol *golf claps two fingers in palm*

It's because Jorge IS cool, and Emile merely WISHES he was cool. Period.

i totally agree cause emile a spartan ii they were raised behind hasleys back and they were deffinitly not raised like the ii they were shoved out of pelicans for there initiate mission if they didnt pull the parachute they werent spartans and also they were 2-5 years of ages but then the ii's undertook tests as the initiate mission then did fitness then dropped out of a pelicans so emile was raised alot more blammo than jorge but jorge was raised to b stronger

Not everyone in the military gets along, but they will still always have each others back. It brought a realism to Noble team.

Jorge is much more friendly to civilians, where Emile is not. They have opposing views on conflict "It's the damn covenant" 'Cheer up, this is a free fire zone now.' They don't truly hate each other, I think it's more of a show then 'I HATE YOU.' Like when Emile used humor to hide his feelings about Jorge's death.
-
Emile is a rowdy, nearly insane badass. Jorge has seen enough suffering and doesn't like the way Emile is so keen to kill and cause pain, and that he shows little empathy. They have totally different viewpoints.

Anyone hear of rivalry? Emile, in the MAC cannon, last mission. "This is for Jorge!!!!!" They hate AND like each other, it's called rivalry.
-
Personally, I think it stems directly from the fact that they are from different classes. Jorge is a Spartan II, whereas Emile is a Spartan III. There is a significant different there. Halsey was incredibly "motherly" toward her spartans and later in her life expressed regret and sadness toward having taken them out of their lives even if she realized it was for the greater good. We see evidence of this in Cortana's methods and actions in comparison to her sister AI. Jorge was molded by Halsey and may have picked up more of that compassionate side while still being a tough as nails spartan. The idea being that the Spartan II's understood the plight of humanity where perhaps the Spartan III's felt more at home with war due to increased aggression levels. Also, it is possible that Emile is based off of the Hellraiser concept revealed in the Action Figure lines that showed a few Spartans with extreme bloodlust. However, at the end of all things, we see that they were still comrades to the end and truly did respect one another even if there was a slight tension on how to handle ground operations with civilians at risk.
-
The serious explanation is that they have different princips about civilians and insurrectionists. Emile reacts to Jorge's care about the girl they find. They don't hate each other at all, considering how Emile shows his respect for Jorge a number of times after his departure (the dogtag-scene before Kat dies and the occassional "That was for Jorge," when he kills something). It's not hate. Certainly their differing attitudes and world views can cause some friction at times, but that's the case with all people.
-
Jorge can kill anyone on the team easily (except Noble 6), so Emile tries to act tough to feel dominant.
-
Emile feels intimidated because jorge is generally stronger but still more caring, so he just masks emotion with humor to not show it as much.
-
Posted by: Spartan TT117 It's not hate, it's a personality conflict.
I see Emile being jealous at how Jorge can show a soft-side to his warrior persona. I also think Emile is the kind of guy who is constantly spoiling for a fight, so he's more prone to run his mouth and instigate something.
-
Posted by: Shock120 Or, Jorge cares too much, and Emile hates that. ;D
Jorge shows feelings, while Emile hides them. Emile also hates insurectionists, and is suspicious of most non SPARTANs. That puts him in conflict with the more human, and caring Jorge.
-
Jorge is useful. He had something to offer the team. Emile does not, he hides when the theres trouble, and tries to snipe enemies with his shotgun.
Posted by: killkrusha They hate each other because Emile's mom is Jorge's girlfriend, But Emile is also Jorge's father... Clear enough?
0_o
