Block Websites like Meat Spin on B.Net

Can't there be some type of auto block if someone tries to include a link to one of those websites in their post? It's a serious inconvenience to click on links that disable your computer, and while I'll admit I should check what I click on before clicking on it, a filter that blocks the more common links shouldn't be that hard to employ.

Checking links before you click them.
Posted by: American Recoil No need to include an example in the title. I would remove that.
What, in case somebody reads the thread and decides to add www. and .com to part of the title to check it out? Get real.

 • You can't block a site like that. There are link shorteners (bit.ly for example) that can simply go right through. Just look where you're going. [Edited on 12.30.2010 6:22 PM PST]

 • Although true, I generally don't suffer that inconvenience ever since I left the Flood.

 • Check links before clicking them. Also, it probably wouldn't be that hard to get around. A block like that.

 • Yeah, but it's the thought that counts. Cheers! • Even if the sites were blocked it wouldn't significantly slow anything down. It's just something that we'll have to deal with until a solution that works is brought up. Until then, common sense works juuuust fine. :)

 • I think they can be blocked, but easily bypassed. I almost lost my computer today because of that link.

 • Just check the url. If it's a tinyurl, don't go to it. Just sit back and wait for the replies.

 • They have blocked a certain "lemony" website, that's about it rly. Anywho I always check the URL. If it is a shortened URL (bit.ly etc etc) I never click it.

 • OR... you can just scroll over the link and check which website it goes to.

 • -Blam!-ing websites is an EXCELLENT idea. The question is tinyurl, but I don't trust that anyways. OP, you really should remove the shock site reference. Btw, are Open Proxy sites blocked? [Edited on 12.30.2010 4:34 PM PST]

 • It's really your responsibility to be aware of the potential risks clicking a link may give you. Bungie can't do anything about it because it would be a waste of time. Anyone could just as easily get around the filter by using Tinyurl or something similar. If you see an inappropriate link that violates the forum rules, report the thread to any moderator via PM if you think it needs attention immediately.

 • Bungie could probably block the url, but other than that it's up to you. If the thread looks like it contains some sort of inappropriate material, then look at the replies, you could probably tell if it's inappropriate.

 • No need to include an example in the title. I would remove that. I always check a link before I click it. There is really nothing more you can do besides avoid them all together. The person who decides to do something he thinks is funny and does something likes that will be dealt with rather quickly.

 • That wouldn't be hard, the problem would be is someone used tinyurl or some sort of redirect.
